And then there are those of us who get exactly where UDO is coming from and question the minds of those who want comments they don't like removed by the moderator just because they don't agree.

WTF people? Last I looked this was a discussion group, not a glee club.

Believe it or not, it is possible to be both over the moon about this release and harbor a disappointment or two - whether or not it fits on a shelf and how they feel about it is up to the buyer but a lack of consistency in these releases in terms of packaging (and certainly pricing) is a valid point to be made. It doesn't mean we aren't excited and over the moon about the release in general but yes, there are reservations in some quarters in terms of how it is being rolled out. Their opinions matter too.

Some die-hard fans feel one way and others couldn't give a rats patookie. Some are appalled that this set (with only a few extra discs and a book) is nearly tripled the price of the 1999 SDE. That's valid. Not everyone, especially in these trying times can justify £149 for a box set when they have bills to pay and a pandemic is threatening their livelihood. What's not to say the next release won't be £300 and include picture discs, postcards and a 3D hologram on the box? Not everyone wants the gimmicks - they just want the music, on CD, decently packaged and are willing to do without the added stuff that jacks up the price or means they can't store it like they would any other CD.

I get that and if you don't that is ok too. But please check yourselves before you start demanding folks be censored just because you are "sick" of it.

I, for one, was expecting another cube shaped box like 1999 SDE. Was pretty disappointed when I say the format. Excited to get a big hardbound book though. I'll take it either way.

I prefer the 12" box size myself, was surprised when the deluxe 1999 cd box didn't come in that size. This CD boxset will fit in fine on my record shelf, although yes it won't fit on a cd shelf. A lot of artists suffer from similar inconsistency in reissue programs, I try and embrace it but I get the frustrations.

This is why I wish the forum had a LIKE button - I agree.

I'll certainly make the purchase and the book is a plus but I totally get why others may be a bit up in arms about it. The odd sizes being one thing and the inflated costs as a result of the packaging being another.

What you fail to notice though is that I (obviously) did not call for moderation because someone expressed an opinion that differs from mine. I did so because that opinion is keep being repeated endlessly and pointlessly and clearly I'm not the only one getting bored by it.

If the rest of us can tolerate the Bart bashing and trashing of Michael Howe that takes up more than it's share of space on any thread here, you might survive a few folks airing their opinions on the packaging/pricing of SOTT SDE.

It's not that hard.

That most tracks obviously have ‘2020 Remaster’ in parentheses BUT only ONE of the tracks has ‘1986 Master’ also beside it and that’s Soul Psychodelicide!!! Interesting

A simple request is 'whining'?

I what kind of dystopian reality do you exist?

My searches did not yield too much; so assuming I did not search is wrong.

Your Bart impersonation fails on many counts.

We need relevant info for the Estate (money side and arts side), WB (Howe c.s.), heirs (all of them).

Then we can impress upon the truths that we find and the lack of releases of those.

.

Also we can direct the SOTT issue(s) to them. lol

Trite complaints of personal packaging aside and getting back to the set itself - I am so stoked that the mastering of this album based on the preview tracks seems to be great and along the lines of the 1999 set

I wish I could agree but the sound quality on Cosmic Day seemed a bit flat and muddy compared to ICNTTPOYM and Witness. Still, great to have the entire track and hearing it in full made me appreciate it a lot more.

Listenining to a version that claims to be 24-44.1 and I do not hear any muddiness.

Hold on one fucking minute. You think the song is ‘good’ - not ‘great’ - but ‘good’ yet you say it should ‘have stayed in the Vault’. So ‘good’ songs should stay unheard and only ‘great’ ones should be released? This fucking place, honestly. Populated by nonsensical gibberish and worthless opinions delivered completely without context or insight. An artist such as Prince deserves better than this mass moronity and many posters’ wilful, near gleeful, hostility to his work. It’s as if they are filled with so much self-loathing and misanthropy that they can only temporarily alleviate this misery by broadcasting their internal darkness to bring others down from a high that they know they’ll never experience again.

I mean as opposed to being on SOTT... Prince seems to agree with me too. Also it seems he did it for a female signer.

I am happy it is on this set. I am looking forward to hearing the other good ("Teacher teacher", "Big Tall Wall", and "Everybody Want What They Don't Got") songs on it as well.. and the few I know that are just okay ("Wally") and great ("All My Dreams" "Train" and "A Place In Heaven").

I think there are 8 or 9 that I do not know... the rest I have had in some form (including different versions).

Why is it that we all have to love everything he did? I like "Jughead" for what it is... so what?

None - that is why box sets exist! 😋 Kidding aside, it would be a difficult song to put in there because it has such a different vibe than SOTT overall. I am struggling to think of a song that could be replaced where Cosmic Day wouldn't be jarring in that slot
