Moonraker/Thunderball CDs?

Hello all,

I have a bunch of old Moonraker and Thunderball CDs like Wonderboy, Thunder, The Avenue, Beautiful Strange, and Nude Tour Rehearsals.

I still enjoy listening to them. I cannot remember what I bought them for in the 90s...probably too much...but I'm wondering...do they have any value now?

Thanks!

No. They are worthless, I"m afraid. Seeing as all bootleg material is available for free, and should only be shared for free - there's no reason or excuse for money changing hands... and no reason for anyone to pay for bootlegs.

Yeah, well some people bought those before they found out you could get them for free. They might be valuable to collectors... Who knows. shrug

Bootlegs value is really in the joy of listening to something by your favourite artist that you havn`t heard before.I couldn`t tell you what their market value might be, but a good general rule is a bit less than what you likely paid for them.

In the case of the titles mentioned by leundertaker, there are better quality versions of most of these circulating now, either through higer quality source material coming to light or better tweaking being done on those same tapes which are usually free and well worth checking out. smile

I think the old vinyl boots have some nostalgic value, there are people who would want the original Small Club the same way someone would want original back issues of Uptown. Better recordings will exist for free, but the point is no longer access to the music, it's having the artifact.

I don't think CD's are there yet, and the problem with the cd's is there wasn't one source, there were bootlegs of the bootlegs.

You got access to music people didn't get to hear, and that was the value. Now everyone can get a hold of things, and it's more democratized, which is cool.

As for the OP...... check eBay out, you'll find that some boots have kept their value, as there are collectors out there that might've missed out first time around. And some are actually quite nice. During the 90's most of the boots were actually better packed than what Prince released himself! That always frustrated me.

Also, I know a lot of (older) people that have no idea how to stream nor how to save mp3's, let alone burn them on to CD so they can listen to them in their cars.
So there's still a market for them out there. But dont be surprised if someone offers you $5 for one. confused wink

Collectors will want them.

With a little research online on certain marketplaces you'd be surprised at how much some of your CDs could fetch.

Most of these were made before, or just on the cusp of, downloading - certainly before downloading lossless. So sure, bootlegs are easy to download now, but in the 80s and 90s they weren't - you bought them on CD or traded.

.

Collectors may want to buy them, or people who like physical media perhaps.
