New book: "Look Up in the Air: The Origin of Prince’s Cloud Guitar"

.

Woodland had previously done conservation work on Prince’s guitars at Paisley Park and is currently working on a book about the Cloud model with Gerald Ronning — who worked at the shop where the Purple One’s instruments were created in the Eighties — titled Look Up in the Air: The Origin of Prince’s Cloud Guitar.

Nice. What a beautiful guitar.

Good to see the questions about the guitar's authenticity have been cleared up.

I honestly don't see anything in this article that proves this is The Blue Angel. Dave Rusan already confirmed this is not one of his original 4 but a later reproduction. The rumoured guitar in The Netherlands is the peach one and was already confirmed via CT scan and the underlying colour and fret markers to be the second white cloud Rusan built.

These are excerpts from Woodland and Ronning’s forthcoming book, Look Up in the Air: The Origin of Prince’s Cloud Guitar. Included will be information on the store where the Cloud Guitars were made, Knut Koupée Music, as well as the luthiers that worked there between 1983 and 1985. The book will combine the features of a historical whodunnit with a broader cultural history of the Minneapolis music scene and the talented craftspeople and artists who supported it in the 1980s.
