I forgot about the Anthology and Very Best Of...no need.

I did pick up the Versace cassette and Majesty Pop lIfe on vinyl and love both. I had to dust off the old sports Walkman and hook up to my speakers for the cassette...but it’s been played regularly in my house since it was released.

Oh yes the compilations. I dont have TVBOP and 4Ever - no need after having The Hits. Ultimate Prince is grear for the remixes and so I had to get that. I do wish Anthology was on cd however. The Estate should make all the digital only releases available on the website as physical releases.

Goldnigga, One Nite Alone, Kama Sutra. I'll probably buy the legacy ONA since I don't have the Aladdin DVD either but i'd rather track down singles from the 80s and various associated artist obscurities that I don't have over getting all the legacy vinyl.

I also don't have The Very Best of Prince, although I regularly recommend it to people as the most concise best of.

Anyone here missing "21 Nights"? I forget that it comes with a CD because it is inside the book.

We noted.

Does anyone know if that Chocolate Invasion / Slaughterhouse artwork is legit or fan-made? Not just the covers, I mean the entire back tray inserts etc.?

NOTES ON OTHER COMMENTS FROM THIS THREAD:

*

-Goldnigga's grown on me over the years- still hate the corny raps on the songs but the band and the horns go hard throughout the whole album

*

-Always did enjoy Come To My House as it was a good "grown and sexy" album in it's day with some nice joints

*

-Yes, I believe the 21 Nights cd is worth owning- some really great stuff on it

Listen, there could've not been anything. It's extensive and has good stuff on there no one expected. I know fans want these sprawling "I need every version of Computer Blue" headset, but the fact that there are one or two disks full of unreleased stuff - some things we've only heard about in rumors or gossip and never made it to the bootleg field - is a treat. But to say they butchered 1999 Deluxe is obtuse, IMO.

They posted the link wrong. It's a default go-to when something is amiss.

Just hover over his link to see what he posted. the Org doesn't recognize it so it forwards to that weird page. The link is https://prince.org/msg/7/463055

In their link, he had an extra msg/7/7/463055 in it. Take it out and it works. It's a link to why Michael Howe removed "Extraloveable" and "Lust U Always" from the set. Hardly a "butcher" job.

I wiill admit that i have bought every album except his first two. For some reason i have never felt his first two albums were what I consider to be "Prince albums" in the modern sense.

Though I do like them a lot.

.

And even though i bought all his 90's albums, i really only consider Come and The Truth to also be his only true worthy 90's Prince albums.

I feel the way you do, but only for the debut "For You" album. To me, it's always been a bit generic and not very "Prince-like" except for Soft & Wet.

IIRC, the original VHS & LD releases were alternate versions from the broadcast. The deluxe DVD is the same as those releases. No?

Yes, you are correct. I edited my post accordingly.

Does any of u guys know what the differences are?

AFAIK there is no digital rip of the broadcast floating around.

Same thing with the original 2 VHS release of that same show (dubbed "Double Live"), and the original 2 VHS release of Lovesexy Live (originally sold separately as pt. 1 and pt. 2).

Unless you have a PAL VCR, in which case it's OK because the original cassettes are pretty easy to find, this makes these edits some of the rarest Prince films ever (pretty much every other TV broadcast or home video was ripped and most of these were included in the massive 2013 video leak).

The person/people who made those monthly NPGMC covers for Ahdio & file releases was actually approached by Prince's people to be official and make the covers for each month (and possibly do whatever else work they wanted), but they turned down the offer.

I never bought 4Ever, the Very best of Prince or Anthology as I had they were not necessary and compiled material available elsewhere.

The copies of the cancelled Tamar Album that found their way into collectors hands belong in a special category with the Undertaker Cd of "cancelled but legit copies snuck out found their way into collectors hands."

Most(all?) of the Tamar Cd was streamed from Tamar`s facebook page after the Album was shelved so you could argue it was released I guess wink

The Undertaker CD I do have.

And I have all the widely available compilations that were released on disc, but none of the rare promos/imports like Strange Tales From The Rain or The Crown Jewels. I'm not that much of a completist.
