A previously unknown song(?): "My Eyes Are Open" Its sheet music got sold in 2018 for $6,875: https://www.julienslive.c...lot/102101 -- see also https://www.juliensauctio...g-book/58/ . . I can't find any thread about this, so here's one. Perhaps some expert knows more? © Bart Van Hemelen

As far as I'm aware, Prince could not write music, as in sheet music, with notes and all. The handwriting does not really look like his either... This is not music, this is a trip
No, it's not a drug, it's something more hip Don't need no reefer, don't need cocaine Purple music does the same to my brain

Exactly. Two good reasons why this must be a fake. [Edited 4/5/20 1:49am]

It's listed as "Prince handwritten". And if it wasn't, this means anyone can write five lines and sell it for thousands... might be a good idea during quarantine!

. Well "Prince handwritten music and lyrics" does not necessarily mean "handwritten by Prince" to me, they could've just left out a comma after "Prince", but I dunno. . Friends don't let friends clap on 1 and 3.

Since the initials are PR...... Prince Rogers.... Is it possible that this is actually by Prince's dad, John L Nelson, who went by that name as his stage name? |

That is def not Prince. Not his handwriting, not his lyrical style, not his musical style. The song begins with a I-vi-ii-V chord progression and it continues in a pretty predicatable-for-jazz way of making the I chord dominant before going to the IV chord. I could make a quick MIDI demo of this if anyone wants to hear it. I can tell what it sounds like by looking at the music and it's pretty cheesy. I would also vote Prince Roger (as in his father), if it's related to Prince at all.
