NPG sounds just as good. Especially with Morris Hayes @ the keys.

[Accusation of lying snip - luv4u] Oh, okay sure. And who is their lead singer?? Is Prince somehow making an appearance at their shows?? So, nah. No difference between bands. Oh, and Morris himself stated he was the weakest on the keys, and that Prince kept him because he trusted him, and they were good friends.

Instead of speculating about Mavis or The Revolution, try reading the link I posted as Reply #377 posted 04/27/20 2:46am on page 13. Lots of backstage info about this tribute from the producer of the damn thing.

[That will make it worse snip - luv4u] That, and you really should hit YT to catch Morris H's interviews with Peach & Black and some others. He 100% stated he didn't understand why Prince kept him as a keyboard player. He also 100% stated he knew his role and his limitations compared to the other musicians in the band.

So, ya might find yourself revising that "encyclopedia" you think you have in your head.

Thanks Bart. Somehow I missed that post. These threads get so damn big, and it's hard to keep up with links and ocmments.

Well, I guess we have Jimmy and Terry to thank for keeping the tension down between The Revolution and Sheila E eek cool. Also confirms that things are not all "warm and fuzzy" in the 80's camp. confused

I know she covered it, but seeing Sheila do America when The Revolution were there to really do it justice was perplexing. If I had to distill The Revolution down to just one song, I would say it's America. That's just their song. It must have been a tough one to relinquish.

Right. When I went to see them in LA few months ago. That is what they opened up with. It def got us started

Here's a great article and it also highlights how many years some band members played with him.

Sheila E. 8 years.

*
Matt - 10 consecutive years in his band
Bobby - 6 consecutive years in his band
Lisa - 5 consecutive years in his band

WTF? Take this to the org tabloids - aka associates. It's impossible to talk about music on PM&M without personal bullshit taking over.

??? So, comments about the number of years associates played in Prince’s band - many of whom were part of the tribute show - is tabloid gossip??

This is article is stupid.

..

.

he's only counting studio credits (which are often very misleading and omit key contributions).

.

.

as I've alrady pointed out, Sheila was pominently features onstage with him throughout 2001 up to 2011 on key dates for W2A tour.

.

.

And bobby was around in the 70s before he got his 1981 drum credit.

morris Hayes is way off also because he was there in 1989 just not credited till 91-92 as an NPG member but he came in with Tommy B. Also Morris Hayes did not end in 2008 he clearly stated in an interview the last time he played with Prince was 2012 as he transitioned to the 3rd eye girl era and shows and they both parted, but still spoke. So Morris in years was probably in and out for 15-16 years. Whether the public or fans dig the NPG era through stories told by Michael B and Sonny and Morris they were all very much part of the creative processes. The undertaker movie was a jam session that Prince walked into and said "what's that " and then the three jammed.

Sheila played off and on with Prince from 2001-2011. She was not a member of his band.

Bobby became friends with Prince in the late 70's (love his story about first meeting Prince at Chris Moon's studio), but he did not play drums with him until 1980.

I thought the artist H.E.R. killed her performance of “the beautiful ones”.
By the way, I told you so 8 years ago.
Her real name is Gabi Wilson.😊
