Yes you make several good points.

Ladies always tend to love ballads more than guys do, it's very common with all music.

Guys tend to lean toward his more hard rocking songs, heavy on guitar.

"Housequake" is one of Prince's worst songs? I realize that we all have different opinions,but come on! "Housequake" is a Prince funk classic!

Still Waiting - still learning

It's Gonna Be Lonely - depending on how you look at it, this is either a redundant fourth ballad on a nine-track album or an eerily accurate premonition of sales for 1999: The New Master

Do It All Night - DM's filler; a solid disco effort but generic and he had already done better on his previous records; it fails to rise to the level of the songs surrounding it

4 the Tears in Ur Eyes - I was raised Christian and you won't find "The Cross" on this list, but when Prince insists on proselytizing I need it surrounded by amazing music (TRC) and/or a lyrical delivery that rises above bland Sunday schoolisms. The sluggish pace, the Wendy/Lisa (who I usually like) interludes, and the fact that he's spreading Christian propaganda on what was meant to be a charity track - it offends my ears. I'd listen to "Horny Toad" 10 times in a row over listening to this once all the way through.

Christopher Tracy's Parade - I think it's his worst opener of the era, and an argument against Wendy & Lisa turning him on to the Beatles - the cartoonish imagery lacks the urgency expressed on his other records right out the gate ("...so he runs to his evil car?" Come on, Prince, you wrote "Little Red Corvette," for fuck's sake); I do like the music, it's more ambitious than other parts of Parade, but that also means it has harder work to do pulling it all off; the film aside, who is Christopher Tracy, and why don't I care about him the way I care about Eleanor Rigby?

Dead On It - it works as a parody, but a novelty parody track seems beneath 80s Prince, and it isn't very prescient considering how ol' Jughead would embrace hip-hop with his own, err, mixed results

The Arms of Orion - I appreciate what he's trying to do but ugh I just can't do it

Partyman - Whoever said "Housequake" above obviously hasn't heard this in a while; Prince had at least five songs about partying and they were all better; this never would have qualified for his best albums and seems like a step backward

Lemon Crush - I don't hate it like some but it is weird he squeezed this onto an official release but withheld The Black Album

I sometimes take issue with Prince's political commentary, but "Ronnie Talk to Russia," for all its faults, sounds innovative, energetic, and like a necessary precursor to "1999." I think all the material on 1999, PR, SOTT, and Lovesexy is too strong for the worst of list, and was surprised to include Controversy and ATWIAD in those ranks.

Partyman is arguably his best straight up dance+partytrack. You can't sit still during this unbelievable composition. Up there with the best on Rhythm Nation that same year. I ADORE Partyman! And Do It All Night is nowhere near a filler. Musically stunning.

Maybe I was hard on Partyman. I do like Partyman - I like at least half of the above. But his best dance and party track? 1999, DMSR, Let's Go Crazy, and Housequake might all have something to say about that. Heck, Partyup, Let's Work, and It's Gonna Be a Beautiful Night might want a shot at that title.

Awesome part, underrated chorus, the song builds so dynamically from its tense opening.
