3) Sexuality

4) Horny Toad

5) Take Me With U

6) Temptation

7) Girl

8) Life Can Be So Nice

9) Dance On

you made it a lot easier by including 1989 and not stopping a year earlier.

To me; the whole Batman album besides Scandalous

Temptation

Sexuality

That's 10.

Let's go to 15 and add:

The Cross

It's gonna be a beautiful night

I wanna be your lover

Sometimes it snows in April

Let's Work

(ok those 5 aren't necessairily his worst, but surely his most bland.)

I'd agree with most of Batman, but I love The Future & Vicki Waiting

As for the added 5. Agree on It's Gonna Be A Beutiful Night. He should of put on Shockadelica on SOTT instead. The other 4, no way!

Hi everyone. This is actually a really difficult one as Prince didn't record much that I didn't like throughout the 80s, but this is my list all the same...

1) Batdance

I actually rate the Batman LP really highly. Even if the songs were scrubbed of movie references and samples, I still think this stands on its own as a great Prince record. That being said, Batdance is a very disappointing finish. It's too wacky, over the top, over mixed. I hate that it keeps transitioning from one tune to another, I hate the overuse of movie samples. The whole 'I wanna bust that body' stuff is kind of corny. I don't see the need for this track. If I remember rightly the Batmix on the 12" isn't so bad, but the version on the album is all over the place. I wish this album had ended with 'Dance With The Devil' instead, or even '200 Balloons'.

2) Horny Toad

This was one of the earliest examples of Prince using a non-album track as a B-side (I believe the only time prior to this was 'Gotta Stop Messing About'). At this point he'd already made studio recordings of Lisa, Kiss Me Quick, Strange Way Of Saying I Love You, Rearrange, Feel U Up, Vagina, Bold Generation, Turn It Up, Do Yourself A Favour, Extra Loveable, Moonbeam Levels, Don’t Let Him Fool Ya, Lust U Always, Strange Relationship & Teacher, Teacher... yet of all the amazing songs he could have chosen to use as a B-side he picks Horny Toad! What a waste of an opportunity.

3) God

Works nicely in the Purple Rain movie, but I've never really had the desire to actually stick the record on and listen to it. Again, by this point he had a superb arsenal of songs to choose from for B-sides so this is disappointing.

4) So Blue
5) When We're Dancing Close and Slow

6) With You
7) Still Waiting

8) Gotta Broken Heart Again

9) It's Gonna Be Lonely
10) Do It All Night

I do like a lot of Prince's ballads, but the ones on his early albums are not for me, especially on the album 'Prince' where they feature more prominently.

1) Lemon Crush

2) Temptation

3) Arms of Orion
4) Free
5) God (vocal)

And listen, I like all of those songs. There's a fair bit more lightweight stuff on the associated artists if they can be included.

Damn y'all "Temptation" is a great track imo...

i'd say "Lemon Crush" and "Arms of Orion" are the only album tracks that I can't ever get into from the 80s. On the b-side of things, "God (Vocal)" is a tough go. The instrumental 12" is amazing though. I don't really ever reach for "Another Lonely Christmas" either. Never understood the love for that song.

Another vote for Temptation as #1 by far

Lemon Crush and Scanadalous are up there (I lurve Arms of Orion specifically because of its Disney schmaltness)

Scarlett Pussy and Girl are cringeworthy .

I used to not like LoveSexy title track but I dig in now. (Dance on I can live with because of the drumming)

Slow Love is not one of my faves.

This thread is getting wacky.

.

I wish I had time right now - but LATER I will RETURN with the actual list!

.

And I can tell you this: it will NOT have anything from BATMAN on it!

.

And I will EXEMPT 'For You' to keep it more interesting, because honestly 'For You' is like a "trial run" by a new, emerging artist trying to find his way. Like when a fawn is born and takes it's first steps, can't really compare those to when it is darting through the forest.

.

So I will give the entire 'For you" album a PASS and focus on 'prince' onward. But YES, rest assured good people, I will return with THE TRUE LIST - and I will tell you this...

.

It will NOT include such examples of MASTERCLASS MUSICAL EXPERIMENTATION as "Life Can Be So Nice" and other STONE-CLASSICS. For shame, you turkeys (some of you)

I’ve been informed that my opinion is worth less than those expressed by others here.

There really is only one: The Arms of Orion. Never did an album (any album, by anyone!) have such a strong opening before going downhill so fast. It was the first Prince song that I just couldn't get into. And I bought the album when it first came out. Okay, soms tracks on the 80s albums may have been less than great, but this is just pure kitsch... From Prince, the most daring, most amazing artist of the entire decade. It was as if Picasso had made a painting of a gypsy boy with a tear in his eye. The album never recovered. I'm not even sure if Prince ever recovered, because worse was to follow. Three Chains o' Gold... Cherry Cherry... Purple and Gold...
If you take any of this seriously, you're a bigger fool than I am.

Sexuality????

Dance On??????

Tamborine???????

CT Parade????????

LETS WORK?????

THE CROSS??????

PAISLEY PARK???????

You guys are killin me...all are faves in my book!

Its hard to really pick a worst of from that time period...Temptation, is one but thats only because of the ending. The actual song is killer.

Arms of Orion is one of those that surprised me as its so conventional...but I don't hate it...and fits well on Batman.

Jack U Off is a little cringeworthy and has been replaced by Gotta Stop on my Controversy playlist. SO I guess I will say that one is his my least favorite of that brilliant time period.

Now the 90s...early 90s in particular...my list would be much longer.

oh bullshit about "arms of orion" - that's the ONE TRACK that the mindhive "fam-base" decided was okay to bag on and NO ONE has a reason ever listed to justify it

*"Temptation"---I'm one of the few fans who wasn't crazy about ATWIAD.This particular song is terrible.

*"Tamborine"----he uses the excellent "She's Always In My Hair" as a B-side,but puts this ridiculous song on the album, smh

*"Hot Thing"----this song isn't terrible,but I just think it's mediocre.The lyrics are very weak.

*"Dance On"----the only song on Lovesexy that I don't like.

*"Lemon Crush"---great groove, but like "Hot Thing",it suffers from weak lyrics and I think it sounds very out of place on the Batdance album.

I like "The Arms Of Orion" biggrin I think, with this song,Prince was trying to come up with a big "love theme" for the movie. These type of songs are always big and schmaltzy.I think it's nice.

Why even create a negative thread like this.
If you dont like Sexuality you never understood the music of Prince. Am I the only one who can go through most Prince Albums without being negative about the songs. Damn I have a diverse taste.

Yeah, well, I guess that's why Prince never made a James Bond theme song. Big and schmaltzy and Prince just doesn't go together and it's a shame that he even tried. Just imagine if Dance With the Devil had been the third track... That would have fit the mood perfectly. But maybe he didn't want to make the album too dark because it was, after all, the soundtrack of a movie, so you're right about that. But a song so full of clichés wasn't what you'd expect from a man who was known for always trying something new.

This looks more like a "songs most people love but you hate" list instead of a "worst" list.

But I forget that my dislike of a song like "Batdance" or most of Batman would read as impossible and WTF as someone thinking a song like I wanna be your lover, Paisley Park, Sexuality, etc. are his worst of the decade.

There's some different people on here. Man.
