Did Prince work himself to death?

In an interview with Morris Day, the interviewer said, "Prince worked himself to death. Right until the very end." to which Morris nodded in agreement.

Do you think Prince worked himself to death? Was he so focused on work that he neglected his own well-being?

No, Prince did not "work" himself to death, and I think we all know that.

Did he really consider recording/performing work?

He was frail at the end but he was likely ill.

Instead of taking a break and concentrate on his health issues, he took pills that helped him to stay "Prince".

I think towards the end he may have just been trying to keep as comfortable as one could under those circumstances (Re:the pills)

I feel like he prioritized making music and performing (work) over taking care of himself. His body was trying to tell him something and he chose not to listen and to mask his issues with pills.

So, yes.

Were you there? Did you see him being murdered? If so, you'd better go to the authorities or you can be charged with being an accessory.

Prince pushed his body to the limit in his early years for his live performances which wreaked havoc and caused damage to his body. He told Judith he couldn't play without being on painkillers right at the end, and it's fair to say that there's no possible way he could imagine living without being able to perform.

So, in a way, I guess you could say he did. But there's several other layers to it and we probably won't ever know all the details.

If you take the statement literally, then of course not. But metaphorically there's something in it.

Basically, yes, Prince did work himself to death. Pain killers to keep working through the pain caused by too much working. And then came the bad pills.

It's an expression, but pretty accurate.

He burned the candles at both ends and it took it's physical toll on him. He had his own drive mixed with the responsibilities of keeping the lights on, and there's a point where you can't function like you're 25 anymore. The pills were pain killers, and the pain was largely work related. It's also possible that without the work, he goes and gets help, doesn't worry about this reputation and doesn't feel the need to play as many shows towards the end.

He did burn the candle at both ends most of his life but at the very end he was likely very ill and needed the pills for comfort.

I'm only saying this once. I am not going to get into a fight about this

Prince caused his own death by deciding not to get care from qualified personnel but from one of his minions instead, arranging pills from more questionable sources.

Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.

There’s a difference between working yourself to death and refusing to face reality.
Prince chose the latter.

If indeed Prince was ill (terminally) around the end he certainly would not have wanted to go out lying in a hospital bed. I think he took the pain until he couldn't anymore.

Shoot, I had felt that Prince that Prince wan't long for this world for many years while he was still alive due to a) his workaholoic nature and b) his frail physique, so yes, I do feel that in a sense he worked himself to death.

Of course. He should have been getting himself well instead of doing the P&M shows. Damaris Lewis told him he needed to rest. But the man didn't know how to rest. Though he's resting now. Maybe he, Whitney and Aretha have a gospel band going up there in heaven. πŸ™πŸ»πŸ’œ

If 'work' menas not paying attention to where his medication comes from then yes, work killed him.

But he worked hard for a long time without dieing.

So the pills killed him.

.

You were under a rock around when he died?

The news was quite clear after a short while.

I guess that's one way to look at it.

Although, if not for the pain in his joints and wherever, he could have had a far more gruelly schedule and still be ticking.

His issue was not being able to admit that he was human. Hell, when his plane made that emergency landing, his team put out a bunch of lies to coverup what was a serious issue. Being doing this, he ended up self-medicating in private and causing his untimely death.

I don't think that he forsaw his death or thought that "it was time." His lack of a will disproves any hokey theories behind that.

I'm glad to read here, that most of you know and accept how it all went.

-

Pills & thrills and dafodills etc...

-

And I like the comment that 'Prince took pills to remain Prince', which is on the spot.

Three years on, and we all seem to 'get it' and 'go with it'.

Well, nearly all of us. wink

-

Prince murdered Prince by not listening, and ignoring 'the truth,'

a frase he loved so much to use and misuse, nearly obuse.

-
