I like the "Funky Weapon Remix" of New Power Generation the best.

I think the beat is to thick and heavy on the album version.

There is a demo of New Power Generation that has the natural drum sound that makes it closer to "Bold Generation".

But really they are all the exact same idea to me, musically speaking.

The Beat (A'bbim Version) is courtesy of "Mudfoot" Morris Day on them Drums!!!!

cool cool cool

"New Power Generation" is an awesome track. I love everything about it with the sole exception of the "yeah y'all" bit spoken at the beginning.

.

Nice to hear the rough draft of "Bold Generation." Glad that he went back and finished it.

.

GB is arguably the final truly great Prince album. 'Love Symbol' probably comes closest, all things considered - were it not for the abundance of Tony and the cheeseball scratching sounds and some other dated production elements.

I’ve been informed that my opinion is worth less than those expressed by others here.

I would agree that GB was a great Prince album but it felt more like a transition from 80s Prince to 90s Prince. TRC is also a great Prince album in my view. I just wish GB was released as a solo Prince album and a companion album contained the other artists.

Fair enough. Worth keeping in mind they are all Prince songs, written by and performed predominantly by Prince, just with guest lead (or co-) vocals.

.

And it's pretty easy to make a playlist or burn a disc without the non-Prince vocals.
