So at this point it's looking like although the stems have circulated amongst a very few, they are not in fact circulating amongst the average fans/traders.

Would this be a fair assessment?

More than fair, yes.
Just as I stated before.Mind you, there are variations of snippets that very few fans may have, but Militant was pretty accurate in his description of what he heard and the full stems are not circulating. I spoke to my engineer friend who was aware of the snippets that some have heard, but those were specific snippets that were used for industry traders as proof of their existence. The full stems are not for trade among average fans or collectors and are among a handful of Prince sessions that have made the rounds in the industry over the past 2-3 years. "Let's Go Crazy" is just the one that's been confirmed. That's all I can really divulge.

Yeah, I've seen the snippets out there.

Man, I hate snippets. Sure they're proof something is circulating but all they say to me is:
"Look what I have that you can't have."

Harsh? I dunno, maybe. Just sucks knowing someone else is rocking out to something you're dying to hear. Would ALMOST be better to not even know about it.

So, someone I know obtained them and said the version they have are 24 mono tracks. Certain stems that shouldn't be mono are (like one of the backing vocal stems), so it may still technically be incomplete. But it's better than nothing.

No that's complete... "Let's Go Crazy" was recorded on 2" 24-track tape... Now there are some tagged verisons of the multi going around where some tracks are bounced down so there's 22 tracks or what have you...

What Casey described as the First Ave drums is incorrect. It's just the cymbal mics on Prince's drum kit and there's some bleed from Prince's monitors of the then-recorded portion of the song. The multi, as being traded, is all in the studio.

Yes. I remember my friend soloing out just the tracks that had the bleed in there. It was most certainly recorded at the warehouse. I remember commenting to my friend on how loud the monitors sounded on those cymbal tracks and how you could still hear the first vocal take that was recorded over, even though the first guitar take was left intact with the different solos.

It was indeed recorded at the Warehouse. That explains the loudness on certain tracks.

Yeah, I definitely jumped to an (incorrect) conclusion there. But it's a stark difference on how "roomy" those tracks are compared to the rest of it, which was obviously done with the intention of blending a "live" sound with the drier studio sound of the rest of the tracks.

Either way, it's fucking awesome to hear how that blend works.

Definitely cool to hear some of the live and electronic drum blendings that Prince has been praised for over the years (but the live drums only include hats and cymbals)...
This is one of the few multitracks that has ever gone around that displays his live/electronic blending. There's other multis but they're mostly linn drum oriented (jam-type tracks)...

Indeed, I was told "Erotic City" and "Purple Music" are out there as well...

I've also heard of "Partyman" privately circulating.
