Well there's lots of things he could have done to sell records that he never did so...


He actually worked pretty hard to sell his records from Emancipation forward - that very awkward Oprah interview, the stint with Mel B and release of the Beautiful Strange DVD, the strange appearance on TRL and his appearance on Larry King when he was promoting RI2TJF, etc. When you aren’t represented by a label and have records to promote you’re going to do whatever it takes to market them. He did tons of press in the late 90’s and early 2000’s - morning shows, MTV, VH1, etc.

My instinct is to say no, but then again if you’d ask me in the early 90s whether Prince would ever do the effing Muppet Show I would have laughed you out of the room. lol

I know what you mean… but I preferred Prince when he was edgy, subversive and slightly dangerous. That marked the end of an era for me – I found it a bit depresssing to be honest.
