What album best showcases Prince's humor?

For me, this one's a SLAM-DUNK: THE BLACK ALBUM.

TBA is PURE comedy. If you don't think Prince has a good since of humor, listen to this album.

HitnRun Phase One.

Wait, what do you mean that album wasn't a practical joke?

Not sure you can just pinpoint his humor to just an album.

The 'Cream' EP

Exodus has some funny stuff like the Mashed Potato Girl story but Goldnigga cracks me up

"Tell me, whatcha gonna do with ur life?"
Whatcha mean?
"Can U really say that U'd help somebody?"
Wait a minute
"Or is this just a carnival ride?"
Oh shit, what the fuck, damn
"What good is a school if it's filled with fools?"
But ah... shut up, shut up
"Goldnigga, it's so easy 2 love U but Goldnigga, who do U love?"
Damn, I was so close

I think Kiss, Darling Nikki, Lady Cab Driver, Computer Blue, Erotic City....a long list of songs like that, have lyrics that show off his dry sense of humor and sarcasm that all the associates talk about.

Cloreen Bacon Skin is basically one long joke.

Irrisistable Bitch and Chocolate, same thing. Lisa, if it's really about Lisa Coleman is funny and so wrong.

It did have some funny lines, for sure. However he has often said he was in a very dark place when he came up with some of the songs, and I don't think he was intending to be funny with all the satan references and gun firing and threats etc.

When Prince pulled the album, he cited a "demonic presence" and the sinister low-voiced character with the gun on Bob George is supposedly being controlled by the devil, hence the fiendish voice.

I know it's all up to interpretation, but basically Black Album represented the devil and Lovesexy represented God.

Great topic.

To me, Prince's musical humor shines best on Sign o the Times. Lyrically, musically, vocally, the album has so many great moments.

Lyrically, there's so much: "Play! No! Play! Nooooo" "Shut up, already, damn!" "But I'm leaving my pants on cuz I'm kinda going with someone" "World Series of Love -- Oh Please!" "Listen, for you naked I would dance a ballet" "Table and the chair..." "Well maybe not the ride" ... I could go on and on...

Musically: Play in the Sunshine's sudden changes, Housequake's hilarious synth chords, Starfish's dreamy harp, Mendelssohn's Wedding March...

Vocally: Maybe most of all, an album of hilarious vocals centered around the Camille voice (the exception is Strange Relationship, where it's used in a disturbing way). There are also shrieks and screams: "HOOOOTT Thing! Yeeeaawwwww!" like he's getting burned, and then of course the dozens of voices at the end of Adore, each one topping the one before and even making fun of one another.

Amazingly, it's also one of his most serious albums too. But its serious qualities are all the more powerful because Prince knows how to spread humor throughout.

THE RAINBOW CHILDREN - no question.

To pull that s*** off and make it seem almost believable requires some serious comedic talent.
