Dan Marino’s favorite Miami Super Bowl memory: “Seeing Prince singing ‘Purple Rain’ in the rain”

Opinion: From Joe Namath to Prince, Miami has provided epic Super Bowl moments

“They should have it here every year,” Dan Marino, the Miami Dolphins icon insisted to USA TODAY Sports. “Maybe I’m biased, but this is the perfect place to have a Super Bowl.”

.

Then there’s Marino’s favorite Miami Super Bowl memory. It came during halftime of XLI, when he worked the game as a member of the broadcast team for CBS Sports and got as close to the stage as possible.

“Seeing Prince singing ‘Purple Rain’ in the rain,” Marino said, “it doesn’t get any better than that.”

I started liking football because of this guy and coach Don Shula. Miami hasn't had a decent QB since. Awesome to hear this!

That's pretty cool, mon. Kind of like when I saw the Rolling Stones on Feb 3, 1997 and half way between "Gimme Shelter" it started absolutely POURING. Everyone had parkas.

My favorite moment from Marino was when he was kidnapped in Ace Ventura. Otherwise, fuck those guys, they kept the Bears from a perfect season razz.
