So out of 27 posts 10 (so far) are negative. Would those 10 posters prefer that we just forget about Prince and the music? He's gone, folks, he's never coming back to give us new music or drop in at the Grammy's to give an award or go on tour again. So how would you like to keep his memory and IMPACT on the world alive? Prince has been gone 4 years this April so this isn't even a 5th year anniversary and he's getting a tribute concert that will be filmed and aired on television. Quit your whining about who's playing/singing/dancing and just freaking enjoy the fact that he HASN'T BEEN FORGOTTEN yet!!! Be HAPPY about that.

you have an interesting screen name...King Rice was a really good point guard for the North Carolina Tar Heels on the same teams with Rick Fox in the late 80's...any connection to THAT King Rice?

No, sorry, it's not in honor of that guy. It's because I'm a huge Stephen King and (used to be but gave up on her books about 6 years ago) Anne Rice fan.

Any promise this announcement held ended with the words John Legend. The death knell was Chris Martin. How this largely boring band of bland populists is supposed to 'honour' Prince is beyond me.

Agreed, but Beck and St. Vincent counterbalance these somewhat.

Agreed, though Beck's Prince tribute for his Paisley Park sessions was disappointingly obvious. Hopefully, he selects some deeper cuts for the night in question.

You go, KRF! If I lived in LA I would try to go just to keep supporting Prince's musical legacy. As it is, I will be telling everyone to watch it when it comes on TV. Even if these other artists are all not my cup of tea, I still want his music to still be out there on the airwaves. Let's keep a little positive goin on the Org. You said some stuff I was thinking... yes

Heck, I thought this was going to be aired during the Grammy's. sad

"Let's Go Crazy: The GRAMMY Salute to Prince" will feature an all-star cast of artists who worked with and were inspired by Prince, from the Revolution, Sheila E., and Morris Day and The Time to Beck, John Legend, and Earth, Wind & Fire.

The tribute concert will take place just two days after this year's Recording Academy / GRAMMYs. The concert will be filmed on January 28 at the Los Angeles Convention Center, and will be broadcast on CBS later this year.

Thank you! Seems some want him to drift into oblivion. Great way to introduce his music to new people.

I hate things like this. It really brings home the fact that he's no longer with us. Enjoy it by all means, but I'd rather stick a CD on and listen to the genuine article.

They have Grammy tributes to singers that are still alive also. Like the one I attended for Tina Turner.

Anywho this is going to be AMAZING!

Look like Sheila E is going to be the musicial director for this event and she usually knows her shit when it comes to this.

And some of the people are actually involved actually also the ones who were there working with Prince.

Can't wait to see this.

What I am not looking forward is possibly salty comments from the associates who weren't invited via social media. sad

These concerts will not carry the greatness that Prince was.

I'm fine with Prince being forgotten tbh, I know how good he was, and you know how good he was, and his legacy isn't going to go increase at this point unless someone stumbles onto an ABBA Gold release or a film media event like Bohemian Rhapsody.

I would prefer all star Grammy Tributes didn't happen but I'm not going to do anything to stop it so what's the issue? If all the old folks who thinks a Grammy means anything in 2020 enjoy it then good for them, maybe they should check out some of the music by some of living artists who are still doing good stuff. shrug

.

Big CD boxsets of great stuff.

Unknown videos of great stuff.

Not the clueless stuff that 'the Estate' (AKA the record execs) currently do(es).

If this is going to be broadcast on CBS then I suspect the performers will pick more well known songs.

Oh I don't disagree but if it's going on CBS television they're going for mass audience. Anyway I'll just be happy to have a tribute to Prince on national television. Hope all the performers do him proud.

The masses need to be educated.

There's plenty of catchy/interesting/good/... Prince songs that were no Top 40 hits.

I will definitely watch, but I'm not expecting greatness. Only Prince could give us that. I think Alicia will do a good job and we know Prince liked her. He requested her to induct him into the RRHOF, so he must've liked her and I personally think she has some real talent unlike some of those other's that do NOT! I'm happy to know Sheila E is involved. I also hope they do something different than a showcase of his hits. I'd love to see obscure songs for a change. It will be interesting to see what Beck does too and glad to see Mavis will be there along with EWF! It might not be as bad as some think.
