How am I negative. I think it’s the greatest release. Nobody cared about 1999 back in the day except maybe ten of us here who mentioned it etc. I’m over the moon just that the regular disc has been remastered. Everything else is gravy. Hell, the release of the different HCUDCMA is worth it alone. But to say someone needs all this praise because he got the songs right is overplaying it :Kanye shrug:
Yeah nobody cared about the third best seller of his career. lol

Nobody did care, initially. 1999 (the album) was flailing until the 1999 and Little Red Corvette videos hit MTV.

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Most people were yearning for SOTT remastered etc, or Parade. Only precious few would mention 1999 all these decades. lol

Well unless the org was around in 1982-83, he's referring to a time and place not quite that far back.

I think it's a pretty great leap between the idea that most prince diehards prefer SOTT/Parade to 1999 and "only ten of us cared."

I'm not sure that whether you care is particularly material. If you spout random bullshit, it is bound to get refuted. smile

In my opinion it's just a 'OK' release that could have been amazing.
Missing to many essentials and even basics (like a DVD with all the 1999 videos)

They might be purposefully holding videos on DVD/Blu-Ray back in hopes of selling those separately. Why give them as a bonus disc when you could potentially sell them separately?

But - more realistically - those videos are all on YouTube anyway nowadays. Might seem a bit passé to include videos in 2019.

I totally agree apart from what you said about the vault tracks from Purple Rain deluxe expanded (there will be a super deluxe at some point mark my words)..... I think the sound quality is different because it was a different era, it was that purple rain live warehouse sound + home demos vs minimal electronic funk made in sunset sound... if you listen to "Fathers Song" it couldn't be better quality it's perfect so I don't agree I think the quality is very high for vault tracks on both but he was going for a much rawer "rock and roll" sound for purple rain.

It is a fact that WB did not use masters for the PR deluxe. So no, not perfect.

If one would check the list of items here one would start to question the 'GREAT JOB' thing for a bit.

None of these were mentioned by the Estate, mr. Howe or anybody yet.

They are unable to communicate a clear strategy, not just for Deluxe remasters but the rest of the materials too.

With all that money being wasted, dobn't you think that is a sign of incompetence?

I do not write that lightly.

I was just about to say this. How anyone could read some of the absurd sounding items on that list (eg. The Morris Day narrated documentary about an 80s wrestler, a video with Channing Tatum in character as a breakdancing, space rollerskating werewolf, and Purple Rain 2: The Purpling) and not realise it's not real, I don't know.

Are you serious? Not only is 2/3 of that list blatantly fake, they don't need to communicate q clear strategy to anyone but their stakeholders. No idea why you think fans are entitled to such possession over prince.
