Nothing Compares 2 U and Baby You're A Trip were solo performances by Prince - both of which were leaked prior to release (in the case of BYAT, for decades).

.

Gigolos, Sex Shooter, and Glamorous Life are all much longer than the versions on Originals. Sex Shooter is over 6 minutes and the other 2 are over 9. Glamorous Life leaked well before Originals in its 9 minute state and the "elite collectors" are in possession of the 9 minute Gigolos and both of Prince's versions of Sex Shooter which clock in at over 6 minutes (the original version of SS which Vanity sang, and the reworked version which both Vanity and Apollonia did vocals for - which is on Originals in edited form).

.

Yes, Noon Rendezvous either had instrumentation removed or they weren't able to find the complete version.

.

ETA: Glamorous Life is 8 minutes, my bad! smile

Just because something is circulating to the elite that doesn’t make it the right one to release. So they have a 9 minute Gigolos, so what? What if there’s a 15 minute version in the vault? Is that the ‘right’ one because it’s the longest one?

its not for anyone but Prince to decide which is best.....so release whats there in its existing form

And if there are 20 versions of a song, then what? Someone has to make a decision which version goes on a released album.
RIP sad

Yeah, the full and unadulterated one. Always.

If we're looking at examples of what Prince did when he was alive, regarding reverb on the vocals, then we have to do the same for versions to released. How often did Prince release a full version and how often did he edit down before releasing?

It was an exceedingly rare occurrence. After CDs became the primary format, he was free to add an additional 30 minutes to an album. That is to say, it nearly never happened outside of the 80s judging by our bootleg copies of 90s material.

.

BTW, though. To echo (reverb?) what Leadline said - this is not the time to take artistic liberty with someone else's music. It's on the tape - as are references for how effects should sound in post (because, in the case of Originals, they were released). It doesn't need to get any deeper than that. Put the songs on the record like its on the tape. Simple.

the reverb on Originals makes it mostly unlistenable for me. Wouldn't you love to love me is virtually unlistenable and sounds a mess. The only song they didn't mess with is love thy will be done.

I agree that the unnecessary reverb detracts from some of these songs, but I honestly like "Baby You're A Trip" with Jill's backing vocals. They just add a little extra oomph.
