I have just been doing some comparisons and it is actually shorter than the "Bad quality" boot version but longer than the "good" quality that is out on boots, it's bsically just the linn drum loop for 14 seconds before the song opens up

It has the "Dez don't you like my band" line in too, so may actually be the 83' version if there are actully 2 as that is still unconfirmed

Has anyone else heard the version uploaded to youtube by Mpls Sound? I can't tell if parts of it are actually clearer than the new copy floating around, or if it was just EQ'd and fixed up to sound "better".

It does have an extended intro, and I've got not reason to doubt it's genuine, but it could be looped. It sounds great, but I wouldn't say it was much different quality wise to whats already out their.

There is also a 'clean edit', which to my ears sounds a little better.

It's not a clear as the 'Lust U Always' circulating, but its passable compared to some of the Duluxe tracks.

I just listened to it again and it's still pretty shit. Nothing even remotely close to anything on 1999 SDE. Unless you guys are talking about something else.

I think its pretty good, but it's clearly not a 'prefect' leak. In regards to comparing it to the deluxe, it really depends on the track, and the final state of 'Extraloveable'. 'Something In The Water (original version)' for example sounds 'duffer' than many other tracks.

I know what you mean. Interestingly, according to the pictures of the reels, 'You're All I Want' was a 'master', suggesting he considered it finished, yet it sounds one of the rougher tracks.

It's almost as if the 'rebuilt' tracks sound far better than the remastered 'finished' tracks. The prime example being 'How Come U Don't Call Me', where sonically, Take 2 sounds in a different league to the remastered B-side.

Yeah, I think I've heard this before. I'm sure, although not 100%, it's fake.

It's just a 'cleaned up' version of the decades circulating version with the intro looped to make it longer.

That's what it sounds like to me too. I could probably make something sounding very similar with the version I already had and half an hour or so with some audio software.

It's the one where Prince briefly engages in some nasty intimate TALK in what is clearly just a “adult” come on by mentioning the word “RAPE” a few times — which was apparently not only too much for the old “Tipper Gore” set but also it's new millenial highly-triggered very quick to censor reincarnation who take PC to a whole new level.

“P Control” wont ever get remasted or released again either — even though there are enough versions to make a “Maxi (Pad) Single” — because of today's so-called feminists even though it's essentially a paean to women and about female empowermentand — albeit from a delightfully gutter persepctive.

Yes from what I've heard so far, I would actually be up for 'remixes' rather than straight remastering, as i think they sound pretty good comparef to the finished Prince masters. For instance they could use the dance remix vocals on LRC album version. As long as it's done with respect to the origanal tapes etc then I'm all for it. I'm sure they will come in time... THE HITS REMIXED! is a shoe in.

It sounds good, but comparable with BFTP. This might be a tweak?

EDIT: If so, as tweaks go, this is a bit better than most of the "remastering" done by boot labels.
