I’m not a fan of edits, but the LRC dance mix edit is interesting as it’s basically the album version with better audio mix/vocals.

I get your point but I like it. I was happy when the PR Deluxe was released with the same kind of stuff. In fact I like to get everything in a prestine quality rather than having it ripped from a record.

It annoys me that they go for a comprehensive disc like this but miss one or two tracks off, just like they did on the Purple Rain set. As far as I can tell there's just a single promo edit missing off this set, the mono edit of Delirious. Did they forget?

I've always appreciated the B-Sides/7"/12" mixes disc as I'm a completist. It's a box set so it makes sense to have everything together.

.

I'm with you on this.

.

Plus I actually like listening to the shorter versions sometimes.

I’ve been informed that my opinion is worth less than those expressed by others here.

Was just about to post the same thing; very odd indeed. Especially since they've added those two Video Versions which were never officially released in this format. And now the search for the Delirious mono edit to complete my b-sides... If anyone has a rip wink

Speaking of those Video Versions. Are there any differences in the mixes or are they simply edits? Princevault lists Automatic as an edit but doesn't say on LPWM...

Not hearing a "nasty dropout" at 60 seconds here.

Maybe it's not so nasty then biggrin But I'm listening on headphones and the word "gonna" at 60 seconds on CD2 track 5 sounds very mangled compared to all other versions.

Mine has the same and it's certainly nasty. Though I can't remember it being on 4ever. To be fair I only played that one nce before it got shelved... Bought in the UK. Yours?

Same. I've also streamed it on Deezer and the dropout's on there too.

Curious how people aren't hearing it then confused Sounds unlikely that this is corrected on a different pressing...

Pointless disc in my opinion since I only listened to 4 tracks on here: Irresistible Bitch, Horny Toad, Howcome U Don’t Call Me Anymore and the extended special dance mix of Little Red Corvette. Instead of these pointless edits and mono mixes there was plenty of space for other tracks that didn’t make the cut such as Fox Trap, Jerk Out, Boom Boom (Can’t U Feel the Beat of My Heart), U Should Be Mine, the original 1982 versions of Raspberry Beret, Strange Relationship, ICNTTPOYM, and whatever else was recorded around that time that we don’t know about. Other than that, an excellent release!

I agree. The Little Red Corvette (Special Dance Mix) and the three B-sides are drowning in all the edits and mono versions and video versions of the same songs over and over. neutral Now, I can understand the single edits being included, but mono versions and video versions?! That's just filler. eek

Besides the outtakes you mention, I also miss the original studio version of Baby I'm A Star because it's only been bootlegged in mono. I want the full stereo version. razz

I've just finished listening to this disc and it was ok. The mono mixes are slightly pointless but overall i enjoyed it. Probably not a disc I'll revisit though.

There is zero chance that these edits were included instead of any of the above unreleased tracks.

True, but the unreleased versions would still have been nicer to get than mono and video versions. wink

Oh I totally agree but it's not an either/or situation.

I know a guy who won't buy a reissue if it doesn't include at least the major 7" and 12" edits that were released at the time. He's delighted with all the edits on here, some people really care about this stuff, and it does no harm to include it. I'll maybe listen to this disc start to finish once in my life.
