It's definitely one of the most beautiful songs he's written; the irony is that it's a co-write. Those lyrics are just as haunting as the melody and the performance. I'm surprised no one's ever used it in a movie (to my knowledge).

It's one of the top 17 Prince songs people should know in my Medium article.

Oddly, he never paid David Henry Hwang for the lyrics. I wonder if he got a gold record for the lyrics, when Come hit gold status.

It's 99.999% doubtful that Hwang was making a Wilde reference in his lyric.
