Sorry, I can not translate well: what it means "a body of work that’s not Prince proper but has his DNA and is thematically linked"?

Could be a themed release like Jimi Hendrix's Blues. A proper Minneapolis Sound compilation would be cool. 1 disc of classic tracks, 1 disc of new stuff (whether by the bands that still exist or by artists inspired by)

Purple Rain 40th Anniversary would be the right time for a Super Deluxe. Anything before that would be a bit annoying for those that bought the 2015 release.

A Super Deluxe for every album is the best case scenario if 1999 is a prototype

A Prince 'Blues" album would be a no brainer. There's just a staggering amount of options they have here. Super Deluxe Editions and further Originals releases is the smartest route as well as an album of "the last recordings Prince made". Great marketing gimmick there

.

Thank you for the answer. Reading the quote I could not understand if Howe was talking about a Prince album, or a associated artist's one.

I couldn't care less about the £16.- I paid for Purple Rain "Deluxe" if that release would become obsolete tomorrow because a new, real deluxe set is on the way. I say bring it on, the sooner the better – and I can't imagine many fans being annoyed about a more comprehensive, better quality rerelease.

I was talking last week about Purple Rain Super Deluxe, thinking it could be next or at least sometime in 2020. This is great to hear, it just makes business sense, and is the common sense thing to redo to the scope of the 1999 Super Deluxe release.

I'm glad that more volumes of Originals will come, as that is truly an inspiring set. I'm also pumped for more super deluxe versions! I hope they hold off on redoing Purple Rain for a bit and give other albums some shine first.

It is Howe's opinion that the Purple Rain album should be rendered more completely, but there is no suggestion at all that it will ever be released or if this is even planned.

I'm sure they will milk the Purple Rain album for all it's worth, but I wouldn't expect to see another edition so soon after the last.

does that mean that they already archived all unreleased tracks? It sounds like that; I doubt they will want to release another deluxe 1999 in 3 years cause they found another bunch of recordings, as happens with PR.

Which means that the vault was probably really not much richer in material than our smallest estimates. No 'thousands' of unknown songs, just a handful.

Wish they used those more creatively than issueing those silly extended previous albums, what a waste!

There are several known songs from the 1999 peeiod that aren't on the new set though. 'Extraloveable', 'Jerk Out', etc.

yeah but we all know those already. If they had many really unknown to add, i guess they'd have added.

It's possible that they're saving some unknown songs for future releases like unreleased albums etc.

Casey looks like he is going to fall quite a way short of his target so we'll never know his news or at the rate his following is increasing it we might hear it by this time next year.

I think/ hope he is referring to the associated artist. I would love to see the Time Super Deluxe set!

.

Reading between the lines, it sounds as if he's talking about associated artist. Themeatically linked could mean albums like 'Ice Cream Castle' & 'Apollonia 6' being linked to Purple Rain.

.

I wonder if he's eluding to projects like The Rebels? I think Vanity 6 had pretty much an entire album shelved (or at least enough material to compile one). It would be great to see Vibrator get an official release.
.
Isn't it the 35 year anniversary of the Family album next year? All a bit of a long shot, but I live in hope.

He needs to tone down all bragging about exclusives and the first to do this, the first to do that.

I think then he would get some respect.

In this case I agree either share the news or keep it completely to yourself. Anyhow his scoop on 1999 deluxe proved to be almost completely wrong other than it was soon to be released, which we all kind of knew anyway.

The real scoop came from the Purple Politician guy, and look at the difference in the way they both presented the news. I know who I would rather watch.

Not much of a scoop because the lyrics were posted on a youtube video 3 weeks ago and were scrutinized heavily on there. Teh video has been down or deleted for almost a week.

AMEN!

The boasting, the bragging...come on...Everytime.

Either share or don't. And: people that are really 'in the know' (cough, cough) do their best to NOT share stuff, as they have agreed with either the Estate or Michael Howe... But that clickbait 4 Twitter Followers was a real lowpoint.. and I'ma let the Look-I-dress-up-like-Prince pics slide for a minute.. We all know how much Prince loved fans that dressed like him.
