RODSERLING

The best selling reissue so far.
All fans complaining and bitching about it, shouldn't buy it. As simple as that.
Personnaly, I didn't buy it and I won't.

Welp. Close the thread then.

Quick question though, and not being snarky since I agree with your sentiment, but "best selling reissue out of how many?

Archivist Michael Howe really does need to explain why he allowed a tape cassette to be re-issued and pressed on vinyl and CD.

How on earth can anyone trust what he is doing!!!!!!

People have found faults in all of the re-issues so far!

HE HAS TO GO!

We need someone who is capable of managing the vault and all of it's treasures!

cool

He’s not the people in charge of releases. He’s the person in charge of hunting and preservation.

He is the person in charge of finding the source and preparing the master for pressing.

He has said this himself in interviews.

He has failed big time in a very simple job that anyone could do!

cool

That s ridiculous to buy something more or less released 25 years ago and bitching about its quality yes.
.
Useless threAd, that's for sure, when you know that nobody here compared the dynamic range between the 1995 release and the new one.
.
Seriously, they don't have the masters anyway. I bought the rave boxset, it sounds even worst than the original release.
.
Best selling reissue of The Prince catalogue owned by Sony of course. And by a long shot, CF the Sales thread, a rare thread really useful here.

Never heard the Versace Experience till now-except a tv news story about Versace runway-where they played part of the VE as the models walked the runway. It's not something I would play. It's like a bside experience remix extra short versions. As a completest I would recommend buying, the casual fan should stay away.

99.9% of everything I say is strictly for my own entertainment

Just got my CD today by mail, as I was unable to find one in any of the few record stores we still have left here in Vienna, Austria. So I had to order it online.

Really glad to have it finally on an official release! Got it on bootleg in the middle of the 90s and revisited it ever since, but I still enjoy this mix a lot. For me it's Prince at his quirky middle-90's-weirdness best. All the mixes have something unique to them: The combination of the vocal version of Eye hate U with Eric Leeds' great instrumental, the way he lets start Billy Jack Bitch three times, the cheesy jokes ("Stephanie sees more"), the great one-liners ("C'est une grand responsibilite avoir une chatounette"), and of course the only official release of Rootie Kazootie. And, yes: 2 mins of 319 and 3 mins of Gold are enough.

I'm sure I will have this disc on rotation for a long time, and I will play it more often then The Gold Experience, as it is shorter, more fun, more diverse and easier to digest.

If you're talking about the 2CD/DVD Rave set, it sounds EXACTLY like the original CD & DVD releases.

Not better, not "even worst", the SAME.

Not dead, not in prison, still funkin'...

A waste if resources, imo. It sounds awful and a bunch of snippets of songs just seems pointless. There's even less merit behind this release than PM83

FYI here's the edition of Gold Experience without P Control. Still don't know what the deal with it is though.

As for Versace, it's being released because they're able to release it. They're not allowed release unreleased tracks so this falls under their remit, just about. Anything for a bit of cash.

eek I never knew this version existed. How common was it??
