Mumio, had the best response on this Prince.org in a while. The Estate is a bunch lawyers, not the Nelson Family Heirs. Unfortuntely from the responses your read on the many of the posts bepeople think "The Prince Estate" is the Nelson Family Heirs, Tyka and the other family members.

Prince.org and the moderators should do a better jobs of NOT perpetuating this false narritive. Just say the "The Estate" or "The Prince Estate" is a bunch of lawyers and accountants, lets call them out by their name and law firm, if we know. Also moderators clarify in the titles of these discussion posts the Nelson Family has little to do with the Estate and their decisions.

Mumio said it best, and I agree, we as fans are being mis-informed about everything. All the money is going to some Law Firms (Bremer Trust, then Comica), appointed by a Judge, The lawyers have charged and collected over 20 Million US dollars. Prince.org should make clear whom is making money on everything since Prince passing. it is not the Nelson Family or Heirs. Do the Nelson Family even have any say on what is currently going on with the music that is being released and the profits from it?

We are over 3 years and over 22 Estate threads, I think we know that the Estate is making most of the decisions, but the heirs also are making some decisions. The heirs don't make the best decisions, they are all ready in debt from borrowing money that they don't even have yet. You've got a few who are already talking to outside lawyers who some of the heirs gave confidential info too, who are now being sued, which of course up the $$ for even more legal fees.

So it's not very smart for them to borrow money on the money they haven't recieved yet, if they ever get it.

All true words by Penny.
P's estate involves complex legal matters.
Mumio never said we were being misinformed.
We have made it very clear on the estate thread as to what is going on with the estate and how decisions are being made.

I don't think the org (nor the mods) is the reason why things aren't presented correctly, it's people's interpretation from what they hear from others usually...and many times that info is wrong from the start. It would be nice if the media would get things right in the first place but we know how THAT goes lol

Now I have to make a correction to what I said too: the heirs do have some minor say in what goes on with some stuff, but final say is with the court while the estate is still in probate. They have so little say that I didn't even consider it worth mentioning in my original comment, but should have.

Does anyone know if the Estate is going to partner with Primary New Wave Music IP Fund? The are represented by a law firm and New Wave is an "interested person"

I googled and they partnered with the Whitney Houston estate.

The company has something to do with publishing company. They own Kurt Cobain's copyrights.

I walked through Prince's former property today. The front gate is still up with a no trespassing sign. But there is another entrance that isn't gated. Haven't started building anything yet.

I know there was the org interview but honestly I didn't find the answers all that insightful, they were vague and quite general. We're still to this day filling in blanks and guessing at answers. Its rare if ever, anyone resorts to anything in that interview to come to any conclusions around here let alone the wider general audience.

If you are "in the know", please shed some light on how Alfred's passing could have anything to do with a copyrights company?

It's unseasonably cool here right now and we're getting tons of rain. I'm sad to see the property go. I'm hoping there is some tribute paid to Prince. If it's street names or maybe just a park memorial. It will be nice to be able to walk through the neighborhood and get to Lake Ann.

Is there any truth to Walgreens and the hospital in Moline, have settled with the heirs in the civil suit?

And does anyone know what this Primary Wave thing is and who are they?

I thought Walgreens and Trinity were dismissed from the law suit and not settled. Isaid posted that info maybe?
As for Primary Wave, I googled them and they deal in publishing. They partnered with the Whitney Houston estate. Link https://primarywave.com/p...e-houston/

From the above article it sounds like they are investing heavily in artists for a return of ownership in copyrights, royalties, etc.

I wonder if the estate is looking in a deal similar to the Houston estate. They own Kurt Cobain’s works.
I do not think this is a good move for Prince’s legacy. This sounds more like a liquidating move.

Here is the link on the dismissal https://thedeathofprincer...dUmH1tWiJI

An agreement on a monetary settlement prompted dismissal of Walgreens and Trinity Medical from #Prince wrongful death suit. Judge ordered two corps tossed after being informed of a deal. Terms sealed forever, but I’ve asked. Hard to get nuances like this correct in ‘real’ time.

Additionally, not even the judge knows terms of the out-of-court settlement reached between the Prince estate and Walgreens/Trinity Med Center.

We dont know if it was an out of court settlement, because he didnt cite sources to confirm this information.

It could have been a settlement, but we dont know.

However, this is what happens more often than not...out of court settlements. The release will always state it is not an admission to culpability. It is cheaper to pay a nominal amount that is covered by insurance than to continue with litigation that may last years.
