I love Prince's music. He was a good songwriter, creative arranger, and a great musician. I have no problem with Prince's songs and I think they're great. Having said all that, Prince did not express much lyrically that I would consider profound, primarily because I'm not a 14 years old girl. He was a bumper stcker philosopher at best. Still great songs, though.

I think you have all quoted some great, profound lyrics. I love every song on this thread. Prince is no Bob Dylan when it comes to lyrics, but he had his fair share of beautiful lyrics, for sure.

Yes, agreed that many of his song lyrics are of a more "basic" nature, but his genius was in the way he creatively "spun" the lyrics and arranged/composed the music to go with them.
