This will be the first vinyl release.
Yes that is correct.
It will be interesting to see how Emancipation does and what the price point will be.
If the Estate can expect $50 for a two disc set then one can expect they will want $150 for a six disc set.
Then of course there will be the 'limited edition' purple set at $250, the white vinyl set at $350 and a super duper deluxe that includes a CD for $500.
This is better as being three separate volumes at $20 each. Or even just a single disc of highlights. Fans could even speculate what the perfect single disc track listing could be - I don't think I've seen that before
Yes, as mentioned, the CD sold for years at $5 in discount bins (along with Crystal Ball retail version) so I will be interested to see how many people will rush out to buy this - particularly those casual listeners who have only heard Purple Rain.
Time will tell - but I'm sure the artwork will look amazing on a a large format!

I make fun of it because it's pretty silly looking but I actually really enjoy how he fully embraced that 1996 aesthetic, it looks better than some of the stuff from 90's that went for "timeless" but now just looks dated. |

I totally agree!
I do love the digital artwork created for the Beautiful Experience vinyl edition. The die-cut sleeve and large format graphics looked great! However it was odd the booklet was 10inch square rather than 12inch square!
From memory it was just in the USA pressing.

192 Khz FLACs give me higher fidelity and more ease of use.
But of course the Estate will not release those yet... Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry. |

Will definitely be picking up The Versace Experience on vinyl.
I'm guessing there's no news about any resolution of the whole TMBGITW legal issue that's presumably the thing standing in the way of TGE and The Beautiful Experience getting the same treatment? (apologies if that's a rather n00b question) |

Frankly Sony Legacy really paid 30 millions for the 1995/2010 catalogue? Lol How can they expect to recover the money invested? The physical re releases this year (Musicology, Rave, etc) sold so poorly they stopped their plan to go further ( it was supposed to be 3 release a month during until the end of the year!) .
Yet another instance of Rod not knowing what he's talking about!

No, it's OK, in 6 months he'll write: "Frankly Sony Legacy really paid 30 millions for the 1995/2010 catalogue? Lol How can they expect to recover the money invested? They just announced Emancipation, Chaos & Disorder and The Versace Experience as the next releases, so the nonsense about selling poorly they stopped the re releases is baloney. |

Like with the 'Rave' reissue, my reaction is 'What is the point?'. Who are these people making these weird business decisions for albums that were not intended to be placed together. Eman especially was a standalone album and I think you can still get it cheap on CD, at least it was for years. Unless they've actually done any work or added something then there's no point in these apart from cashing in on gullible fans. [Edited 7/1/19 12:59pm] |

Exodus was not released in the states. I have the European LP & CD. The CD has a glitch in one of the segues that was not on the LP or the Australian CD. So, if reissued, I'll buy the CD again but I'm happy with the vinyl that I already have.

Hi Thunderfunk,
This is interesting. Are you referring to the brief pause after Prince asks for the car keys? I always assumed that was an audio edit censoring something. I never realised it was an error. |

IIRC, yes that's it.
The pause/glitch/silence is on the European CD, not on the EUR vinyl and not on the Australian CD, so, must be a mistake.
At one point I used the vinyl as a source to "fix" the CD, but soon after someone was kind enough to share a copy of the AUS CD with me. That's just a temporary solution though, I want to own a perfect physical copy on my shelf so I'll happily buy that one again. Not dead, not in prison, still funkin'... |

Thanks for the info. Fingers crossed it gets a release at some point in the future. I would have said that a re-release of Exodus was highly unlikely, however if The Versace Experience is slated for an official release then I guess anything is possible at this point. |

Nope. Warners were going to release it, and all Prince had to do was not disparage them in interviews, and that was too much effort. © Bart Van Hemelen

It always fasinates me how different everyone's tastes can be on the ORG.
I guess that is what made Prince so special.
I am most excited for Chaos & Disorder - I love that album
and also really excited for Emancipation... although I was I could make my own Single Disc Verson...should we start ANOTHER thread about that? HA.
But for Versace... Could someone help me out?
This versace tape for record store day was from the Gold Experince Time..
But I could swear that he did Versace again around 3121... I vividly remember seeing a Versace runway with Black Sweat and it was a version that I drooled over and have never been able to get.
Am I right in remembering 2 separate Versace collections and do we know if this Vinyl is the same as the cassette from RSD or is it maybe the 2006 version that I am thinking of.. Fingers Crossed it is 2006...
THANK YOU |

^THIS!!! I could give a fuck about vinyl mid-90s re-issues. Can't imagine there would be more than a hundred people on this planet who would. It's utter insanity, economically and pop-culturally, if the estate continues to sit on any decent full-length unseen concert footage. Die-hards aint getting any younger y'all. |

He's speaking truths... This estate is a cluster fuck and has no idea what they are doing... People dont want what they already have or have no use for... I mean really...Is anyone going to pull out a copy of Chaos and Disorder in 5 years to listen on vinyl? NO. Time is a wasting.... When it comes my time to transition... I am going to find Prince and tell him... "you know you just done fucked up down there, right?" |
