People act like it's the only song he ever recorded. Not here of course but in general.

It didn't even reach #1 on the charts.

It's a fine song and I've seen some fantastic performances of it that he (and others) have given us over the years but we're getting (or have gotten) into real serious "Stairway to Heaven", "Satisfaction", "Free Bird" levels of just totally running this shit into the ground with this track.

To the point where I just roll my eyes and have actively begun to dislike hearing it.

I hate how much he's almost completley associated with this one singular track, especially since he died.

Exactly how I feel as well... They are not bad songs, not at all, but have just been milked to death you get sick and tired of hearing them.

Tbh I always skip Purple Rain when it comes up on shuffle...

I rather listen to songs like Joy n Reptition, Anna Stesia, We Can Fuck, than the hits such as Kiss, Raspberry Beret, Purple Rain, etc...
