Baby, You’re A Trip is on the original Originals so you might want to remove that before some smart arse notices

If a series is coming, which would make sense, and since they chose to include side projects as well, I guess we need to remain on this odd balance with a majority of side projects songs and a few odd tracks, or they'll run out of odd tracks too early.

Love Thy Will Be Done (NPG Version with Prince Vocals). The one on the upcoming Originals release is the sappy one from the 80's. The revised version from 1995 is epic and among his best songs ever. I've only heard Sonny T's studio version, but there must be a studio version with Prince vocals. For me, this is the holy grail.

The one on Originals appears to be the original given to Martika, it's not from the 80's.

The Exodus version is not an "original" in the sense of those compilations (unless there is a version of that with P on vocals, which is uncertain if not unlikely).

On the other hand, there are enough Exodus outtakes with Sonny on vocals to justify an Exodus rerelease with a whole extra CD of additional material.

Also though we have heard it, an official release of "Databank"

It boggles my mind how P's 'Databank' can be so good, and The Time's so bad...

The Time's version is also P's version minus maybe a few overdubs/remixing by The Time (which didn't make it that different from P's original 1989 version). P just rethought the track entirely. Maybe it wasn't the best choice for the Corporate World project, IDK, but amusingly when The Time took control of the project, they chose to keep it for Pandemonium. The problem with that track anyway is that the melody is completely bland, so its quality all depends on the arrangements. While the 1989 arrangement wasn't as stellar as the 1986 one, it made sense from a new jack swing perspective.

Are you sure they are the same version with mix changes? I don't have time to compare, but the Time version is so l a m e and d e a d.

The older one was one of my most listened to bootleg tracks and I had so been looking forward to hear the Time version which I thought was just going to be a switch of vocals... oh boy... I was disappointed.

Strive

Can't Keep Living Alone (Tamar Davis) is one of my top wanted tracks. It's a great song and I can only imagine how much better it would be with Prince's vocal track.

edit: Although, thinking about it, I would prefer the next theme album to be Stripped Down - early demos & original cuts of songs. There's so many great songs that Prince overthought to the point of exhaustion. That or he changed the lyrics so it would be less personal (OF4S/Elephants & Flowers/Anna Stesia)

The version on Corporate World and the version on Pandemonium are the same with slight changes, that's what I meant (not sure if I was clear, what I meant is that P was the creative force between both the 86 and 89/90 versions)

I'd have to have it in pristine sound quality to be able to consider it etter than the released version. It's certainly not stripped down, though, IIRC Prince removed more sounds than he added. I wasn't aware of the lyrics changes though, I'll have to pay attention smile

That's one main point of contention between us electronic music and Black music fans and y'all Radiohead/Springteen/McCartney/Dylan fans. Overdubs and layers over layers are, to some of us, a great part of what made Prince's music so fascinating.

I seem to remember a lot more synth tracks and layers added to the released album version, along with the kid like xylophone hits that sort of made their way through a lot of the the tracks.

The demo had real drums, that were simple, and a saxophone that added thickness. And he had a very hoarse voice.
