i remember someone being quotes saying that "he thinks he's related to god somehow" and dez once said that started from the fawning that his first keyboardist did over, him, sorry, can't think of her name at the moment. He wouldn't be alone, Elvis thought he had healing powers, being a star is heady stuff, it really is.

His first keyboardist was Gayle Chapman, but I don’t think she was “fawning” over him. She actually left the band because he was requiring her to do sexual things with him on stage. He would have her arch back and he would stand over her and he would stick his tongue down her throat. She was religious and ended up joining a Christian group/commune for many years. * She also told the story of Prince deciding on her scantily clad wardrobe. She said she was in her hotel room one night, and Prince’s girlfriend (I’m guessing Susan Moonsie) came in with a bunch of lingerie and said, “Prince said you have to wear these on stage or you’re fired”. * She had a long interview with Prince Podcast. Very cool laid back chick. [Edited 5/12/19 17:54pm] [Edited 5/12/19 17:55pm]

ya, that's here, she did tell prince something to the effect that he was gifted by god, that is if dez' recollection/interpretation is correct, i think she disputed that. ya, and i'm aware of the history there, she was a fine woman who had all that sex appeal but not all women want to put it out there. i was watching some arab porn, good lord them women are beautiful but by and large then wear bedsheets so we can't see none of it, i see why, the men would go nuts.

She also said that Prince’s sexual moves with her on stage would cause conflict with the crowd at some of the shows. They would yell “get away from her” and things like that. I guess there were still race issues in certain places back then.

I said it quite often, religion should be a private matter, just like your sexual orientation.

You can sing about it, I don't care. but don't sell it as the only truth, blah blah.

Simply because it is not important as such. Because of the understanding of those who believe (in whatever) should also understand that life as such itself is essential, and all religions are side issues. No Matter what. Religion should never be a starting point in any general conversation or encounter. Period. It's all a matter of courtesy and sane understanding.

-

But if you choose to brag about it or wave it around; expect a counter effect.

And be as courteaous as possible in the understanding that it's best to agree to disagree.

I don't bash believers anymore, I try to put myself above that (in mutual respect of course).

I prefer to behave indifferent when conversation gets lost (again), which leaves them quite lost and actually very 'alone', the way it should be.

-

Very well said Vannormal. I completely agree. There are too many differing religions and varying beliefs to argue or push one over the other. There is a reason the term “faith” is used, and it’s because we have no concrete evidence that one specific belief is in fact the “right” one. They were created during different time periods by people/groups in different cultures. Most began to provide hope and to foster a belief in what happens when we leave this world. * Unfortunately, pushing and/or forcing religious beliefs on to others has always been a problem both by individuals, groups and leaders. Thus will never change. * This is the biggest issue with many organized religious groups, especially one like JW. Their agenda is to use members to push others to join. This is why Prince became so vocal during his shows - preaching to his audience, and having debates with his friends/associates lasting several hours.

-

Agree. smile

About these hours long debates and discussion with friends, associates, fans (Celebrations) etc...

-

I even think to some extent, that Prince used (abused would be a too strong word) his position in that matter, trying to score (with the JW group) and also to see and feel how well is was received (with fans and people in general). He was always the guy in search for a spritual answer to many of his untrusted and unanswered questions of the/his small world.

-

I even dare to believe that a workaholic like Prince was an easy victim to any religion really.

He worked so hard, that for most matters where he was unsure about, he prefered ready-made religious (easy to understand) answers, instead of dealing with the real deal this world is all about.

He was a guy of no or few compromises. And religion is all just about that; no compromises, clear and instant conceivable.

And discussing or debating about such delicate issues with those who are on your payroll... you know what I mean.

I agree regarding religion, but why do you equate that with sexual orientation? Your belief system is very different to who you are attracted to.

-

Yes, it's true. Your belief system si very different to who or what you are attracted too.

But in reality it is certainly not the case.

I know many gays who believe in God or Allah or a black stone, or a unicorn, whatever.

-

Well It's very simple.

I'm gay.

And to honest, I think that whatever you like to fuck ro stick your tongue in, be it a shoe a vase, or an Ikea cubboard, or a woman or a man, should NOT be an issue anymore in ANY society thinkable.

It is my unhumble opinion. smile

First of all I am Human, a person who lives breaths, eats and looks and acts the same just like all of you... 'we'.

Second is I live amongst each and everyone of you (in a common society), that makes me a participant citizen that works, buys stuff, pays my bills, and act and behave just exactly the same like everyone else.

And what I (we all) do in my/our bed(s) or elsewhere sexualy (obviously except all kinds of unacceptable abuse to anyone) is my very own personal private matter and choice. smile

-

But it's still a loooooong way to go to get on that level of normality and acceptance.

Prince somhow understood it when he was younger, got lost inbetween (by religion etc), and was about to grow more mature and wand towards a more acceptable understanding, of which he must've felt that JW couldn't provide him with satisfying answers (anymore).

That is my humble opinion. smile

Interestingly, I’m not sure how accepting or understanding Prince was toward the gay community in his younger days. Yes, he was doing the “androgynous” persona, but I think that was more about grabbing attention and setting himself apart from other rock artists. Also to be mysterious and to keep people guessing. Yes, he had Wendy and Lisa in the band, and he loved them, BUT, it was also rumored that during the big fight between Wendy and Prince he called her a “dyke” and said she’s going to hell. She then told him he was nothing but a womanizing pig. So the story goes - Wendy would have to confirm that, but it’s been written that way.
*
During the Controversy tour there’s a recording of him singing Uptown and when he sings the lyric where the girl asks him if he’s gay he says “no! Is your Mama?!” As if he’s insulted so he insults her back. In the song Bambi he’s criticizing the girl for being a lesbian “she can only do the things you do” and “let me show you what it’s like to be loved by a man”. So, while he was definitely more tolerant in his younger days compared to the JW period, it seems he may still have had issues with homosexuality. In Purple Rain Morris calls Prince a “long haired faggot”.
*
I think people assume the androgynous persona he created was him being accepting of homosexuality. Although, I do think he was a lesbian trapped in a man’s body biggrin Lisa hit the nail on the head when she described him as a “fancy lesbian” smile

LOL.

Honestly, did Lisa really sy that ? lol

That's great!!! wink

-

No no, take it from me, the man was a hetero sexual as one can be ! (Gays do see the difference. wink)

And I also believe that he did not had that much problems with other sexual orientations when he was young.

(I think the make-up and all that came from the New Wave era... and stayed. Simply becaused he was able to turn it into an acceptable freakshow and confusing image, that suited him very well.

He loved to create mysteries and uncertainties and surprises.

Bambi and other lyrical mentionings in songs, are more from a point of view of being (playfully) jealous (Bambi) or acting funny (''No!, Is Yo Mama?''), which I think is often misinterpretated a bit.

You basically can't literally interpretate Prince's writings and things he said in interviews.

-

He was a true realtime womaniser who tried to make us believe that he treated woman as equal as he could. Somehow it was true.

(...you know how often I have to change 'is' by 'was'... still very strange to talk about him not being amongst us anymore... anyways,)

-

But I sometimes wonder when he (still) sing (the songs do still excist) all these things about women and what to do with them... Was that from a point of view where he wanted to try and understand who they are ? Or was it a matter of only wanting and longing to fuck them (like most men do) ?

We actually will never really know what kind of fella he was in bed (we only know a bit from what Susannah briefly mentioned).

I think he never really got to a point where he was able to understand women. Oh, he accepted them in every way possible, but had difficulties in treating them well... stallion Prince...

He sure was a fucker in every positive and negative sense of the word. wink

But I can't say if he was a fancy lesbian... But i'm sure if Lisa (or Wendy, and I somehow believe they one day will!) would open up about it all (in a book or so), we would or could be very surprised by what was real or not.

Oh no, don’t get me wrong - he was FOR SURE a heterosexual man in every way. He was just very feminine - very in touch with his “female” energy, which is why I think it was so easy for him to write songs from the female perspective. That is why Lisa called him a “fancy lesbian” (during her and Wendy’s interview with Out magazine in 2009) - whether man or woman, he was still ONLY physically attracted to women. However, he also loved makeup, fancy and feminine clothes, etc. Hence, the term “fancy lesbian” biggrin
*
He was for sure a player though. Had he been a woman he would have been like KD Lang - with lots of beautiful lesbians smile I think he lived two different sexual lives - one that involved the more “dark and dirty” sex (a la Pheromone) with women like Robin Power, and the tender and loving kind with women like Susannah - although I’m sure they had some “sex play” in there too smile
*
I think his sex life was as Susannah described - mostly loving, gentle, and “normal” with the occasional fetish stuff mixed in and casual sex with the side chicks when he had an “itch” to scratch smile

I feel sorry for Prince, because it seems he was unable to have a fully committed relationship, which left him quite lonely throughout his life. However, sexually speaking, he was very fulfilled smile
*
I think the women who were with him just for a good time (one nighter) were probably satisfied. Those that were very close to him and wanted a committed relationship...not so much confused

music was his woman, as far as his relationships, he did what he wanted to do and women let him get away with it to a point. It's an ego thing, and it ain't just prince, most men cheat. my personal belief is it ain't even about sex but ego, "i can get this one, I can get that one, I'm the man".

Music was the only “woman” he was faithful to smile

I think men cheating is a combo of ego, temptation, and self absorption (putting their satisfaction over the importance of fidelity).
*
Prince really was honest in his lyrics. SO many songs about this very subject - Temptation, Movie Star, Get Off, 18 & Over and Pheromone just to name a few.

Ugghhhh!! The pg versions razz confused You and I differ on that piece! I guess some of them would’ve been a bit raunchy for a 50+ yr old to sing, but I sure missed the originals!!

May 2016

Jehovah Witnesses came by as I was taking out the trash to the curb. Guess what I asked them about? I asked them about cremation and they said they believe you can be cremated or in a casket. Because in the resurrection etc god can recreate your ashes etc or whatever so that erased my own questions regarding Prince being cremated and it may have been in his wishes. He also said a lot of information is due to come out regarding Prince next week.

I asked them about Prince and what they thought of his career. etc. He was talking about this to some other member previously he said and made it to note that a reporter had inquired just about this subject and regarding his religion. He said a lot of celebrities who were JW were going to attend his funeral too and that he would witness to other celebrities. He said next week a lot of information would come out. This dude speaking this was a real young dude, had to be under 30 or 25.

I also told them if Im not around not to be knockin forever at my door or ringing a doorbell if nobody answers (Im not home) cause Neneh will try and jump through the window at them if they didnt leave and they promised not to come by if I wasnt outside lol

Here's a pic of the watchtower issue they gave me.. They said go to jw.org and there is a blurb about Prince and it leads to the reporters story or something like that

Partially.

I dug his message more in earlier times. When it was more about Uptown and even Anna Stesia.

Yes - the earlier message in the songs was more questioning, ideas and /or gentle persuasion. The JW period was straight up preaching, and "in your face" lyrics - it's THIS way and no other way is possible.

More inclusive. The exact OPPOSITE of dogma, really. Acknowledging the pursuit of a higher power without passing judgement or being smug about it. Or above it all. All knowing and all that. ONE way.

It was a big part of what drew me into him and his music.

He said he needed the discipline. He is a rock star, but what he wants the most is to live his life in a way that honors God completely. Plus he needed the socialization with people who were like-minded. He was considering several spiritual paths, but he settled on Jehovah's Witness. We were talking about it out in the open on AOL back in the day. The ultimate goal was for him to increase his spiritual gifts in this world though. Perhaps fulfill somebody's prophecy. That was another one of the points of leverage, used to keep him from doing something uncalled for.

I think Larry Graham was in the right place at the right time for influencing Prince on the JW faith. Prince had just lost his child less than a year earlier. I’m sure he was struggling and wanting another outlet for his grief beside performing. It wasn’t long before Larry was touting with him and then moving to MN to teach him the JW beliefs. They told this story during interviews in ‘98 and ‘99. Prince was always spiritual and a believer in Christianity, but at the time he met Larry he had just suffered a traumatic loss and no doubt needed support and answers from a spiritual nature. This is a common scenario for people turning to religious groups.
*
I think had his child been born healthy he would not have turned toward JW. I could be wrong, but I don’t think so. Seems also that even during his zealous efforts with following JW he still had his lifestyle of women, parties, etc. similar to his younger days, but with an organized religious group in the mix.
