It is my understanding they are only transferring tracks on an "as needed" basis.

Trust me: professionally and safely transferring an analog tape to digital is far from being as simple as you imagine it, it is relatively expensive and no-one will pay for it just to put it out on HDTracks.

.

It has been done.

(for preservation)

So the additional cost is zero.

Oh boo hoo KJ join the club.

From the article that you linked:

"This was a traumatic event for my client," Johnson's attorney F. Clayton Tyler said following Wednesday's deposition. "He feels very sad over the loss of a good friend of his. To have to come back and go through this and re-litigate this whole matter has been very difficult."

[Edited 5/29/19 19:40pm]

Why would anyone take comfort in this?? Because it’s ‘okay’ for the ‘family’ to try and bleed money out anyway possible? From the hospital that saved his life the first time, to the best friend he had and who was the only person who actually took care of Prince day after day year after year?
Yeah. That’s comforting. NOT.

IT IS UGLY AND TOXIC. THE WHOLE THING.

Why would I need to read the Estate documents?

If Prince were sane, then the most important tapes would have been digitised while he was alive.

A digital copy can be duplicated without losses, this can provide redundancy as well as resilience against deterioration of the media.

Implying that he did not makes this the most important task for money wasting 'The Estate'.

This means that if they did not do so personally, the Iron Mountain thing should concentrate on these album masters first. This should have been the easiest to find tapes in the Vault (and other places).

Assuming they did so these digital copies could have been online three weeks ago. (or sooner)

Sure, he fact is that I have been digitising since 1995.

And the fact is that the estate has not made the recordings I mentioned available in highres formats.

This means that this simple process was not deemed profiatble enough.

But what is?

They aren't making anything available, not keeping Prince fans engaged or attracting new fans. His work has been capable of being on You Tube. His NPG music club was the first online music subscription service, with music, videos, interviews. He preceeded Apple and won Webby Awards for his pioneering work. Why not re-activate the site and start posting content, using it as a legacy portal? Prince museum shows history of his many cool websites. Plenty of vehicles available to the estate.

Income? Income? Playoffs? Playoffs? What?

By the time this is all sorted out, the fans who care will be dead, or over 80, and won't care. The time for making any money off any reissues or vault material was 2016-18. Damage control might garner some meager profits in the next five or so years, but many of us will still be alive when Paisley Park is torn down, and most, if not all of the assets are sold.

I'd love for PP to be a makeshift studio and museum for Prince, MJ, U2, and other major artists from the 1980's, but with all the legal issues and incompetence from multiple sides, PP will likely either be transformed into something we all don't like, or demolished. Sad.

Elvis died in 1977, almost 42 years ago. Graceland is still a popular attraction/.
It will be the same with Paisley, which has much more to offer as a facility.

BTW, the estate administrators and Gracelnd managers have said that Paisley is not only supporting itself but returning as profit to the estate.

I think Elvis is perhaps the worst of all the famous "Musicians." He was simply a singer. He could not write a note of music, and although he could play guitar, after he left the studio, real guitar players overdubbed his parts, and Elvis was clueless this was even happening.

Despite this, Elvis had years of being a huge star. He had tons of #1 singles, albums, and fame Prince could never dream of.

Prince is 25 billion times better than Elvis. Hell, Elvis Costello is the real Elvis to me, and he's not really that great. It's just Prince had ONE huge album, and 3 decent selling albums.

Remember, Adele 25 sold more than every single Prince album released from 1992 to 2016 put together in NINE Days. And that is physical album sales in an age where cds supposedly don't sell anymore.

I would love to be optimistic about Prince's future sales, but there is no focus, no direction, and no die hard fans involved in the process. If I win powerball, I would invest my own money in trying to protect his legacy, and get the music out to those of us who want it. But the future is bleak, unless someone knows something I don't.

And Miles Davis', Glenn Gould's or John Coltrane's numbers wouldn't compare with Bieber's, Adele's, Elvis' either. Prince was among the rare... It saddens me how much garbage has been written about one of the greatest musicians, songwriters, live performers of our or any generation.

I mean no disrespect, but is Capital One the Deceased African-American Singer Headquarters? Both Prince and Whitney in the commercials? Now, PBS has a Prince special it keeps repeating? Who authorized that? One of the top entertainers of all time has been reduced to an afterthought while numerous people search for ways to get his money into their pockets. I hear his music and I can feel him in my soul. I miss him. But it is like he never really existed.

I understand to a point what you are thinking, however, if the PBS special keeps repeating, you can't say Prince is forgotten. Unless PBS is getting tons of calls demanding to find out who this Prince character is. And who approved it? That's a funny one. Since you know who never left a will, it is pretty much saying "I don't care" about EVERYTHING. Sad, but the powers that be can pretty much do what they want within reason. Showtime ran SOTT, which is comical when it comes to the rights to it. SOTT is considered Prince's crowning acheivement to some, but Prince could've care less after it was released. He was on to Cincinnati, like Coach Bill Belichick would say(meaning, time to move on.)

I am not convinced that Prince didn't have a will... there was much shadiness in his world. Much was taken from Paisley Park upon his death.

https://www.thedailybeast...er-is-back

I think Prince cared a great deal about his music, performances, fans... he did quite a lot in his lifetime. But I would like to see his live performances released now that he isn't with us anymore.

A few photos of the Prince Galpin property that was sold to Lennar.

https://www.swnewsmedia.c...72b43.html

Some morons on LA saying the property should never have been sold to a developer and should have been bought by the city. Um do they have a clue how much the land was worth? Around $20M. Where in the world would the city of Chanhassen have come up with that kind of money to purchase the property? That’s just silly thinking. Hopefully the builders & city will find a way to pay tribute in some way. If there’s a trail that runs through the development and lake Lucy/Ann it could be named after him. Or maybe some of the street names could have a Prince tie-in. But honestly it made no sense for the estate to keep the property and if it was going to be sold it most likely would be sold to a home builder.

Chanhassen Park and Recreation explores Prince property for first time

Chanhassen Park and Recreation Director Todd Hoffman recently led a group of city officials on a walk through the future Lake Ann Park expansion.

After hearing so much about the pristine land that once belonged to the late rock star Prince Rogers Nelson, nestled along Lake Ann’s western shoreline it was time to see the property first hand. The small group included Mayor Elise Ryan, City Councilor Julia Coleman and members of the Chanhassen Parks and Recreation Commission.

“The purpose of the walk was to introduce the (Parks and Recreation) commission to the future acquisition through the housing plat,” Hoffman said, in a later interview. “The commissioners had not had an opportunity to see it. Everybody’s wanted to get into the property to take a look at it.”

The Chanhassen City Council approved rezoning 191 acres of property along Galpin Boulevard on March 11. The move allowed Lennar to develop 169 homes on the property. And it also preserved 100 acres of of public parkland adjacent to the existing 100-acre Lake Ann Park, through park dedication valued at $980,000 and a density transfer of 22 housing lots from the park area to the westerly development.

Of the park expansion, 55 acres are wooded upland property and 45 acres are wetland. It includes 6,400 feet of wooded shorelines on both Lake Ann and Lake Lucy, according to Hoffman.
Time keeps on slipping into the future...

This moment is all there is...

Caribbean Estate Formerly Owned by Prince Sells for $10.8 Million

A Caribbean home owned by the late pop star Prince—which has a driveway and a movie theater in his signature purple—has sold for $10.8 million.

Located at the tip of a peninsula of Providenciales in the Turks and Caicos, the property had been on the market for a couple of years. It was scheduled to be auctioned last year, but ultimately was not sold. It was most recently listed in December 2018 for $11.8 million.

Totaling nearly 6 acres, the beachfront property’s main house is almost 10,000 square feet and comes with six bedrooms, a 200-foot hardwood dock, a tennis court, a staff gatehouse and multiple cabanas. The driveway is stained purple concrete, and the home theater is lined in purple velour.

Prince purchased the original property around 2011, and added two adjacent parcels over about a year, according to listing agent Nina Siegenthaler of Turks and Caicos Sotheby’s International Realty. Ms. Siegenthaler said Prince made additional changes to the home, knocking down walls to make the space more open plan. He died in 2016.

The buyer is Tom Barnes, chief executive of 319 Capital Partners, a private equity and investment firm based in North Carolina. He said it was a “bonus” that the artist had owned the property.

“I can remember myself back in 10th grade listening to ‘1999’,” Mr. Barnes said, referring to the Prince album. “If I could go back and tell that 10th grader that some day he’d buy Prince’s house, his head would probably explode.”

Mr. Barnes said he and his family had enjoyed vacationing in Turks and Caicos for many years, and wanted to have a compound large enough to host large gatherings of extended family. He said he would rent the property, which he has dubbed Emara, when he’s not there.

Asked if he would paint over the purple driveway, Mr. Barnes said absolutely not, noting that it would be a potential draw for renters. “I think that’s going to be a significant pull,” he said.

Ms. Siegenthaler listed the property with colleagues Joe Zahm and Richard Sankar, while Dee Agingu represented Mr. Barnes.
