When doves cry unreleased versions

I have had the opportunity to have a chat talking with The Revolution in 2017 during an interview just before a concert !

Wendy & Bobby Z confirmed during this Q/A chat i put about this Song that other unreleased versions are in the Vault....an unreleased instrumental version & a longer/alternative version of WDC among others......i know that few years ago Neversin talked about this on Prince.org ( i can't find the initial post here???).......do we know more about these supposed alternative takes of the song ?

thanx in advance 4 new info about this ?

cool

There was a version that had much more to it but several elements--not just the bass-- was removed. There is an instrumental that was sent to WB, possibly for the movie. Also, possibly a longer version from 84 and a remix by Kirk in 94.

It is safe to assume that the original multi-track masters are preserved...

I saved some of the info he posted and I dated it 4 August 2004 but I think it was posted on HouseQuake/MoQuake and not on Prince.org but I could be wrong.
Anyway he talked about an extended version that was probably for teh 12 inch release but dropped, two early versions with bass and extra synth lines and an embelished instrumental version of what the use for it was unknown. I would kill for these and if WB has the instrumental than why didn't they releaese it on Purple Rain Deluxe???

No I don't have direct quotes because I didn't copy the complete post, I noted just the info I needed. I always format info like this in a point by point structure.
Maybe Mathieu Bitton knows anything about this? Becuase I doubt Neversin posts here anymore, I haven;t seen him here in a long time.

I just checked his profile and it seem his last post was on the Bird Box topic in GD a week ago, so I think he;s still around.
I to appreciate his posts on music and hope he'll contribute more for us.
But I've also heard he stopped providing info becuase of all the shit he got on this and other boards by (jealous?) fans who started to appreciate him way after his info was verified by Paisley Parkers and bandmembers etc. but then it was to late and he deemed us undeserving or unworthy of any useful and enlightenig info regarding recordings, at least that is what I heard from most people here.
I guess a couple of very vocal haters who backtracked after they found out they were wrong about him and his info spoiled it for the rest of us. sad
I just think he really hates most of us in here or maybe even people in general considering most of his posts lol
It seems we are just entertainment for him lol

But I really hope he lightens up a bit and just contribute again becuase I know he has a lot of info and stuff we all want but probably never will hear.

Crazy to think there's extended/alternate WDC and that didn't make it to Purple Rain Deluxe. That's crazy to me

Same here. Of all the outtakes or alternate takes of songs they could have used you would think they'd at least use one of these versions, especially because it was his first #1 hit that everybody knows.

There's so much great material they could have used. A whole disc with alternate versions should have been on PR Deluxe.

The Purple Rain Deluxe should have been more thorough and given the true fans the opportunity to purchase additional material from this era! The B-Sides and Edits CD 💿 was pointless to any diehard fan! The concert should have been mastered to Blu-ray or ULTRA4K!

I wouldn't worry. At some point, there will be a 'redux' a 'super deluxe' and an 'ultimate' edition of Purple Rain. If it can be milked, it will be milked.
