You are clearly putting your own spin on Susannah's words in order to, yet again, satisfy your very bizarre obession with knocking down their relationship/collaboration with Prince.

Finger Cymbals on his first album??? I don't recall hearing them playing on any of those songs. In fact, the first time I heard them prominently featured in any of his songs was on the ATWIAD album. The first time I saw Prince actually using the Cymbals was on the Parade tour.

I was thinking about this time period, and wondering how or if things would have been different had Paul Peterson stayed with The Family. The Parade shows may have been very different. Prince absorbed Susannah, Eric, Jerome, Miko, and the backup dancers into The Revolution. I'm guessing The Family would have been working on the second album while The Revolution toured for Parade. Or, they would have opened for The Revolution, and then Eric could have played both shows.

I guess with the tension brewing in the band and Mark quitting the disbanding of The Revolution would have been inevitable, regardless of whether or not The Family had stayed together.

The Family album is sheer

It is great. Love their show at 1st Avenue. Wish they would have been able to keep it together for at least one more album.

Ever since I read that I've rediscovered Constant Comment tea. Honey really brings out the orange and spices.

The music was happy but the lyrical flow to the song was a bit chunky

I'll have to try that tea! I usually use a natural Habiscus tea with honey and some spices, so I'm sure I'll like it. Love that she made him vanilla cake with chocolate icing all the time too. The little details of his everyday life are so great to hear

So, maybe this is Prince's effort to bring out that exact mix of sounds - funky with those jazz undertones.

I like it lyrically and what he was saying in it. It was one of my favorites right away when I first heard CB and I put it on a mix that I made of the other songs from that time. I also like the meshing of funk and jazz.

Yes, the music was wonderful, same with the message, just the delivery of the lyrics feel a bit chunky to me. But the chorus flows perfect. A Pop Life Bside like.

Cake...yum. My gramma made vanilla cake with chocolate icing. Constant Comment tea vapor makes the room smell nice too.

Hibiscus flowers lower your body temperature. Good for summer but not winter. It's in a lot of blends because of the pretty red color but it cools you down.

I run "hot" body temp-wise, so the Hibiscus works well for me. It's good for lowering blood pressure too - mine goes up sometimes. Love my coffee too, so I usually end up drinking tea when I'm sick - especially with chest congestion. My "elixir" is the tea, honey, cayenne pepper and ground ginger. Works like a charm to break up that mucus before it turns into a bad infection

Susannah is a GREAT storyteller! I remember when I attended Toure's panel discussion on his book he wrote about Prince(r.i.p.). She had us ALL on the edge of our seats listening to her. She's VERY dramatic almost as much as her chatterbox sister Wendy.

The thing is David brought in very exotic Middle Eastern instruments and sounds. And a way of playing them. I played finger cymbals in elementary school. I did not play Middle Eastern instruments and manipulate the sound.

Prince played the instrument David gave him on the Parade 1st Avenue open rehearsal show. I don't think he ever played the finger cymbals live again.
