Somewhat tangential - an early break for Earth, Wind & Fire came when they recorded the soundtrack to Sweet Sweetback's Baadassssss Song. Not a hardcore porno, but full of softcore scenes shot to fool labour unions into thinking it was a porn so they wouldn't want to get involved with the low-budget shoot. The film was nonetheless rated X ("by an all-white jury," the poster read) and scandalous for the early 70s, but a progenitor for the blaxploitation film movement and a runaway indie hit. It's popularity probably had at least something to do with its contemporary, black, "urban" soundtrack.

The disco song "More, More, More" by Andrea True Connection was probaby the first pop hit recorded by a porn star - Andrea True. More recently, it's been used in fast food commercials, but the lyrics detail onset sex: "get the cameras rollin', get the action goin'..." Reminds me of Prince snapping pictures in "319" - "I've got a good shot, put your leg on the chair..." - Which of course, accompanied a strip club routine in Showgirls.

Prince was a pornographer. Oh, he was also a lot of other things in the course of his decades-spanning career - Jehovah's Witness, Purple Yoda, "Manic Monday" scribe, etc - and the fams who want to distance him from pornography can call him an "eroticist" if that helps them sleep at night, but the fact remains: he was a pornographer. From the Greek: porno graphos = writing about prostitutes. See also "D.M.S.R.," where he urges "work your body likea whore." His music is on the soundtrack to four films about sex workers: Risky Business, Pretty Woman, Girl 6, and Showgirls. Did I miss any?

He drew inspiration - even samples - from softcore (Barbarella references and Caligula-inspired video set design) and hardcore porn (listen closely to "P. Control," and you'll hear what I'm assuming is a porn starlet asking, "are you ready for the best pussy you ever felt?"). He manufactured audio porn: consider Vanity's orgasmic moaning throughout "Come." He probably wrote more songs about the act he called "It" on track 1 side 2 of SOTT than any other artist before or since. In this sense, Prince expanded the sexual vernacular of "rock&roll" - a euphemism for fucking - more than any other artist. Because PRINCE WAS A PORNOGRAPHER. The same can and has been said, with varying levels of scorn or praise, about Frank Zappa, Jagger/Richards, Madonna, Andy Warhol, Pablo Picasso, Allen Ginsburg, Michel Houellebecq, Anais Nin, Henry Miller... shall I continue? It's a long list.

The boundary between art and porn is as thin and wrinkly as that sheet covering Prince's ass in the 1999 sleeve. 70s porn music was 70s funk and disco, the exact same cultural juices from which Prince's career oozed.

That sample in Pussy Control IS from a porno...I had watched that years before I heard that song so u can imagine my surprise. P watches the same porn as moi!

eek somehow, that never registered with me. i always thought it was 'are you ready for the
best fantasy you ever felt' -although thinking about it now, that doesn't make sense lol but
i guess i just don't have a dirty enough mind.

although. i also used to be clueless to the 'controversy' sample in 'my name is prince' and
thought it was a sample of prince singing 'suck your pussy' lol so perhaps not a 'not dirty
mind' entirely.

and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

if his stories were true, it was the magazines in his mom's basement. also, i think he saw his dad play at strip clubs, his first look at real porn? I just coldn't see him going to a porno theater and the vhs craze hadn't begun until he was well an adult. I think in those days, porno was most accessible in theaters, i never went to one of those, they just seemed too wierd, jerking off with a bunch of other men in the room or what have you, just wierd. Easy to forget just how long ago it was that we're talking, 30-40 odd years ago, totally different world.

From what I remember from boys back then it was pretty much limited to looking at porn mags found under the mattress in parents' bedrooms or stolen from a nearby store... razz lol

I was listening to it in its entirety and to me it sounds like 70s Porn music.the only standout track is Im yours with the instrumental show offs near the end.cant believe they let him produce porno music! What do u think the reason they let him do porno music?

What country are you from? In English you literally asked the same Question 3 times. Why is porn music so entrenched in your mind? Did your mom take u to work with her alot when you were a kid?
