While the title of this thread isn't as vague as some of the worst offenders (e.g. "question about..." or "is this true?" or "interesting website" or "does anyone know" etc.), it's still needlessly vague: "Possibly in possession of Prince's clothing". Why not specify that it involves the shirt from the "Alphabet St." video?

.

And the "in possession of" turned out not to be so true as well, since it is actually owned by a friend of you.

.

Why not simply state a more precise title, e.g. "My friend possibly owns the teal shirt with black polka dots that Prince wears in the "Alphabet St." video"? Why be so needlessly obscure and mysterious, risking that possibly interested people will skip your post/thread?

You had to read the entire thread and only THEN did you realize exactly what the thread is about? falloff

Her wording is perfect; yours is flawed. She does not OWN the shirt; she POSSESSES it. I know English is not your first language, so you get half a pass here. But you are 100% wrong in the second paragraph; SuzyHomemaker is 100% right.

Keeping in the "English is not your first language" vein, you suggest a thread title of "My friend possibly owns the teal shirt with black polka dots that Prince wears in the "Alphabet St." video"? Really? It seems that in your world, you'd prefer thread titles so long that the thread itself is unnecessary. Maybe you should start your own Prince website, just a thought.

Last and certainly not least, it is incredibly cool that someone named "SuzyHomemaker" has Prince's shirt. I agree with BlueShakooo - the owner should sell it to Suzy.

He bought this and the guitar for $2500. He's supposed to be giving me more details, but hasn't gotten back in touch with me yet. Just told me to take it home and research it, knowing I knew more about Prince than he does, and know how to get on the computer and look up things (he doesn't).

Tell him it's fake and you've thrown it out already. evillol

No, there's still plenty more to tell and pics to post. But yes, A TITLE SHOULD BE CLEAR. That pathetic clickbaity "ooh look at me being mysterious" nonsense isn't.

Possessed: It normally alludes to being in physical hold of. Not ownership. The definition you linked is vaguely (poorly) conceived. That is why someone asks not only if you own something but if you are in possesion of it. In his case he owns it but is not in posession of it.

Nowhere in this song does Prince imply or emphatically state that he either owns the woman's genitals, or is owned by the woman's genitals:

Something's the matter baby, I'm going insane
Something inside of me keeps talkin' to my brain
Why can't I stop this satanic lust?
I know I shouldn't hold you, but my body says I must

I'm possessed, ooh
And I don't know what to do
Ooh, I'm possessed, yes, ooh
I'm stone crazy in love with you

Something's the matter baby, you're all I see
Your voice is all I hear beggin' to me
I wish I didn't need you, wish I didn't care
I've got to make some love to you cuz it much too much to bare

I'm possessed, yes I am
And I don't know what to do
Ooh, I'm possessed, oh
I'm stone crazy in love with you
[x2]

I'm possessed
Don't know what to do
I'm possessed
I'm stone crazy, ooh

Something's the matter baby, my mind's in a daze
I'm trippin' on your love, it's so hard for me to lay
Can't stop this yearnin', Lord knows I've tried
Free me from dispair, I'm much too young to die

I'm possessed, ooh
And I don't know what I'm gonna do
I'm possessed, ooh (I'm)
I'm stone crazy in love with you
[x2]

I'm possessed, ooh (Yes I am)
And I don't know what I'm gonna do
I'm possessed, yeah!
I'm stone crazy in love with you, ooh
Yeah ooh
Yeah ooh
Yeah ooh
Yeah!

Possessed
Stoned up, up in the head, baby
Said I'm possessed, mmm mmm
All I wanna do is lay you down in my bed
I'm possessed, oh
Yes I am
How's about me not knowin' what to do?
I'm possessed
Yes, oh yeah
I'm, I'm stone crazy in love with you, yeah yeah
Pussy sugar... yeah yeah

Possessed
Well, I'm goin' insane
Hey, I'm possessed
I only wanna do things, baby
Only wanna do things growin' inside a negro's brain, yeah
Yeah yeah..oh oh yeah
You're leaving me no choice
I'm gonna hit you with my guitar, baby

Oh yes
Mmm, oh yes
Bobby Z., step on it
Step on it
Mmm, step on it
Mmm, step on it now
Step down on my head now, baby

Yeah, I'm possessed
I'm possessed, baby
Fucked up in my head
I wanna use you in my bed, yeah
I'm possessed
Well, oh
Oh, I got this lust
Baby you know I got this lust, yeah
I don't wanna hold ya
I don't wanna hold ya
I don't wanna hold ya
But my body says I must!
I must, yeah
Oh, oh baby, I must!
Do you mean "yeah"? (Yeah!)
Baby, if I don't
'Cause baby, if I don't
'Cause baby, if I don't
You know your pussy puts up quite an awful fuss
Yes it does
Puts up a fuss, yeah
You know what that means
You're gonna get wet
Pussy get wet, mmm mmm

Something's the matter baby, I'm goin' insane
Something inside of me keeps talkin' to my brain
Why can't I stop this satanic lust?
I don't wanna hold you but my body says I must

I'm possessd, yeah!
I'm possessed
Stone in love with you (Stone in love with you, baby)
Stone in love with you, baby
Stone crazy in love with you, baby

Me and the boys, we like to jam

Possessed!

CASE CLOSED. yes prince yes

Look, guys...just because my profile is newish, doesn't mean a thing. I've been around the Org since the PPML days. I'd get sick of someone or offended and close my account, only to re-start a new one months later. I chose to ignore Bart's irrelevant comments, and I wish you all would too. It's a shame really. If he only knew how many times I thought people ganged up on him too much, or that I actutally agreed with some things he said, maybe he wouldn't be so quick to point out perceived flaws of my thread title. Oh well. I really don't care about what he says or any other "trolls" or whatever they're called nowadays. I ignore and move on. That's the last I'm going to say on the subject.

What I want to know is if anyone actually looked at my pictures and compared them to the video? I'd really like to know what others thought.

Also, that Stacia Lang didn't start at Paisley till at least 1990. Her bio says she worked there in the early 90s. I'd like to get a hold of Helen Hiatt. She was the costume designer in the late 80s. She was recently auctioning things from the Lovesexy tour. I'm going to reach out to her and see if she'll answer some quesions or look at the photos I took and let me know if it looks familiar.

At the very start of the video when Prince is laying down, you can really see that the dots/snap on the lower neck (right) part of the shirt are in the exact same place as those on your photo... So it may well be the real thing!

How cool is that!!! yes cool

Obviously without some form of authenticity from a reliable source, you may never know, but my two cents:

It looks like it and it has big similarities to a black and while polka dot version I caught when Prince threw it off in a show. I bagged three shirts over the 86-88 period and the interior should pads are identical cut to the one you are showing (be in in different colours). The double line stitching seems spot on.

Bare in mind, Prince had multiple copies of some outfits. If your shirt is genuine, it might not be from the video and could have been concert worn (he wore the teal one at some shows) and Sheila was on the tour.

That’s what I was trying to find...pics of him from the tour wearing the teal polka dot shirt.

My question for seamstresses is, can you perfectly line up polka dots when making duplicate clothing items? Seems like it would be very hard, if not impossible. Looking at up close shots of the video, in comparison to this shirt, the polka dots match. I was especially looking at seams, where they would be cut off. In one section, a snap is right on top of a polka dot, with the dot just poking out from the snap. Same thing in the video shirt. (Scrutinizing polka dot placement really is making me sounds nuts!)

Yep! He loved him those dots! Polka dots are actually very complementary to almost every body style. Makes a big person seem a little smaller, they do some "filling in" on a tiny person. My mom was a great seamtress, and she taught me that years ago.
