At first I read it as Elizabeth Berkley and got excited for the tacky TV movie possibilities. Still hope for tackiness, but a little less excited. smile

And that is probably why I will give this a miss.

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

First of all, reports are that while the character of Prince will "hover" over the entire movie, there will not be anyone playing Prince. No Prince appearance. But hopefully lots of Prince in the soundtrack.

Second, I hope they work in what Lisa Barber said when Prince died:

"He changed my life,” the 50-year-old daycare worker from Sheridan, Wyoming, tells PEOPLE exclusively. “He helped me to open up a little and feel more at ease about myself. He was kind to me and so natural and down-to-earth."

....

“I’ve never married,” she says. “And I guess I could say it’s because Prince never came back. There will never be another like him. It was the time of my life.”

Read the article:

Prince himself will not be played by an actor though his presence will hover through the film.

Neither am I .

The movie rendition of the event sounds to me more like a Beatles- or Elvis-kind-of-thing to do. That particular cinematic idea is a unique piece of history. Done. And. Over.

beatdeadhorse

The routine applied to Prince sounds hokey to me: "that one time in Wyoming." Besides, we do have the recorded promo date and concert. That as it is looks good to me!

>

Now, use the Prince-promo scenario as a backdrop to a druggie-drugstore-heist or crazy-kidnapping-in-Sheridan-type story? That might be cool.

I think it's a good thing. It seems consistent with his wishes as long as they don't try to cast him racially ambiguous. biggrin

speaking of the Beatles,I remember a really good movie called ‘I Wanna Hold Your Hand’.It is about a group of girls trying to get into a Beatles performance during the height of Beatlemania.A very funny movie. One girl even dressed up like a maid and somehow gets inside their hotel room, lol.

If done right and with some humor, this Prince-related film could be pretty good.

He isn't going to be cast at all. No Prince character is planned to be in this movie.

That's exactly what I was saying earlier in this thread! smile I Wanna Hold Your Hand was a well done movie and this could be, too.

I watched it as a double feature with The Room and it was quite a ride. IDK how it is to watch The Room if you haven't watched TDA first, but as a combo they work pretty well.

Sounds great to me. Not having Prince in it is a damn good idea, it'd be too much distraction. Leave that kind of thing to the Oscar chasers.

Now THAT kind of hokey film would be an idea I'd be passing on myself.

An idea to widen the Prince music for the masses would to have the lead character show a cassette with the text "bootleg" on and play songs like "Wonderful Ass", "All my Dreams" or "Crucial" etc etc. Like a car scene where she puts it in the car stereo and play for her friends. Just to hype up the meeting even further.

I thought 500 Days of Summer was terrible. I watched the first half hour and then bagged it. lol

I got 10 mins through The Disaster Artists, so you'll either love it or turn that one off after 2 mins smile

It's really about the girl, and there will be no Prince in the movie.

Do they have to approve it? Because they don't approve very much anymore.

Totally forgot about "I Want To Hold Your Hand". That's a great example..(Another fun movie even though it was panned by the critics)....Any of the P fans that were old enough to remember the MTV contest (and watched it the night it aired) will probably enjoy this "Cherry Moon" contest film.
