The orignal album (un2) was trying very hard to be the next Santana Supernatural (lots of guest stars, and produced by Clive Davis).

The remix improves on a few things, such as the title track and removing Everyday Is A Winding Road and adding Beautiful Strange.

Yes, that Undisputed remix is the highlight for me. He stepped up his game like he had a point to prove to D and Q

Yup. But I meant that those Dangelo liner notes made it seem like D went back to the rhoade etc organic sound etc that Prince supposedly couldnt do anymore. TRC was his clap back and the rest as you posted regarding the prolific is history.

oh, i know. the first time i listened to TRC it made me so happy. it was such a huge relief for me
to hear prince songs again that challenged me and that went places, went so many places that i
couldn't predict. halfway through the album i muttered 'well, thanks D'angelo, for stepping on his
dick and making him reply like this'

No lie, I thought the same thing because NPS, RAVE, etc had been really lackluster to me. TRC was his 4th turning point release imho. I thought when the competition is at his heels, Prince steps it up.

He promised a 2CD album that would be "the real Rave" (and idiotically did so before Rave was even released: "Hey fans, buy my new album! Which is BTW a shitty version of the album and I'll sell you the real version in the near future."). And then of course Rave flopped massively and of course Prince completely lost interest and in the end scrambled to put this together.

The original album was a fairly short pop-rock album L4OA posted a short news item about (his engineer had delivered it to his home, IIRC). agreed. nps, rave etc, they were all still good imo, but he was definitely in some sort of funk.

with trc he snapped out of it and his music felt so much more free after that.

I will say that diving deep into Rave Un2, Rave In2, interviews and live performances that were televised (mostly overseas) has been a bit exhausting. There are some nice highs and some serious, serious lows.
