i want something i haven't heard before. so none of the above lol

or at least something with a few tracks we know nothing about.

the first few vault releases really shouldn't be camille of dream factory imo.
what would be the point? not only do WE already have most of that, even
the average fan has most of those tracks already through official releases.

better hit us hard with something [largely] unknown that will make even
the hardcore fanbase reel from excitement about what else might be in the
vault.

I am very interested in all those except for The Camille Album and Dream Factory album because we already have all the songs and could easily make those albums ourselves.

I will say it again......the most exciting prospect for me, is to get albums filled with stuff that nobody knows exists yet.

Dream Factory might not be the most exciting release for us, but it could be the one to generate most interest for casual and non-fans. The music press would no doubt love it and hail it as a lost classic. I'd rather have this released first and then the time taken by WB to really get other projects right and released when they are ready and not rushed.

Or what if they decided to release the follow up to 1999? Or perhaps the original Crystal Ball triple album before it turned to Sign O The Times?

1. The Rebels

too little prince on vocals...

2. Controversy Live! (with The 2nd Coming documentary)

From what I read Prince did get the concert footage but not the footage of what little there was of the story elements... but I am not all that into live recordings... audio or video.

3. The Time/Vanity 6/Appolonia 6/The Family (All Prince lead Vox)

interesting... and Shelia E too!? But I have read that for most Time songs Prince's vocals were recorded over.

4. The Camille Album

why? there is only one song on it that is not released.

5. Roadhouse Garden

Okay, there are a few unreleased songs on the known tracklist...

6. Dream Factory

again a few unreleased songs but 2 are apparently short musical interludes and not something I am all that interested in

7. The Flesh
8. The Tora Tora Tora Experience

Neither one of these peaks my interest over a solid collection of studio songs.

I'd prefer a studio release of Camille or Dream Factory. While so many of the tracks from both have been released, it would be good to hear them in the context of the full albums, studio quality, as they were originally intended.

Could it be a reissue of The Black Album as previously planned?

Hmmm, it’s a tricky one... as nice as it seems to have the known unreleased albums finally released, most of the songs have been released on other projects, I think a more outtakes collection direction would work for those orphaned songs like Wonderful Day, Rebirth of the Flesh etc.
Totally unknown sequenced vaulted albums are another thing altogether, although I feel there aren’t that many from the wb era as he was constantly re-arranging from previous concepts to build new albums. So to me a compilation series is The best was to go. Let’s see what we get in September and then we’ok know what to expect with further releases.

Roadhouse Garden
Dream Factory

.......

This won't likely be the September 18 release, but personally, I would love to hear some of the unreleased material from the prince/Three Chains o' Gold era. From what Mayte wrote in her book, Prince was doing a lot of soul searching during this period, and I would love to hear the music that reflects this period of soul searching.

I would welcome an album full of material of the caliber of We Can F**k (PR Deluxe version), Wonderful Ass, and Computer Blue (Hallway Speech version).

People here are saying no to Dream Factory because pretty much all of the songs are circulating, but aren't there are least a few of them in poor quality? I'd just love to have all of the non-SOTT tracks in pristine quality with no tape hiss or degradation. especially "In A Large Room With No Light" cool

Answers in few days...none of albums or dreamed projects named above are considered to be released in September by WBR....nevertheless a piano&microphone live performance is strongly rumoured...hope it's wrong...I prefer Studio unreleased stuff!

I need newer music maybe new songs (unheard) from the non-album years:

2011
2012
2013

There should be some "Gold" from these years.. question

I would love an album like the brilliant Art Official Age or the amazing H'n'R Phase 1 music

Please, but not like the extremely boooring Phase 2 zzz

I don’t believe there will be many Time songs with P on vox. I think Morris was usually at recording. Any P is all over the 3 of the 4 if you listen for him. They do this thing called mixing where they can turn your vocal way down or just delete it totally...lol. Kinda like our Destiny and I wonder You. Prince took his vocal out and just like that he’s gone from them forever. BTW why would you want songs written for females with P on vocals?

It was referred to as a piece of music. Maybe some type of jazz suite. Hopefully not though

newsflash.... it's has to be something familiar to fans.... WB isn't going to put something out that no one will buy.... we shall see...

If I were WB I would release a reissue of one of his better selling albums along with outtakes. Much like the PR reissue. the problem with the PR reissue was that a) millions of people already own that album. Literally millions. And b) when Prince died, those that didnt have it but were reminded they used to like it, went out and bought it before WB reissued it. And c) because the timing and quality were off.

But an album like 1999 where millions used to own it but probably don't anymore, and because it came before Prince went big time, it may be a good commercial choice. Many will remember owning it and realise they need to own it again, and many will never have owned it but know the title song well enough. Throw in outtakes and possibly a live video and it could be commercially positive.

Obviously, like most, I would prefer something more obscure and unheard, but WB will have to think commercially. If WB are to be successful with Prince's 80s catalogue they have to think the long game. And the first thing is to get Prince back on the radar for the casual listener. So before they can start releasing obscure stuff and unreleased albums, they have to use his more popular stuff to gain traction.

1999 would be my wager. That or SOTT. But personally I would save SOTT for a another day because that can be a very rich and deep release with some great outtakes, Crystal Ball, live shows, the concert movie etc. So i would wait until I have rebuilt the fanbase somewhat before releasing the real juicy stuff.

Lovesexy may be a good option because it didn't sell that well back in the day and I think is probably a lot more accessible today than it may have been back then. Plus there is an awesome live show that really shows off the genius of the man that can accompany it. A little thin on outtakes perhaps, or maybe that just means not many leaked so there could be a little gold mine for us uber fans too. Perhaps release it with TBA too as that album has always been the naughty twin to Lovesexy for me.

TL;DR WB are not going to release obscure unreleased tracks without a known album to back it up. They need to make money and gain traction with new and long lost fans. Relying on us, the hard core fan base for the long game is not a wise financial investment.

Yes, can you imagine the big WB release being a mainly instrumental album of funk jams (i.e. The Flesh) lol lol lol

They could actually release Camille in its entirety with SOTT. But I like your idea of a comprehensive, multi-disc re-issue that could include The Dream Factory and Camille plus B-Sides and other tracks. Maybe with a blu-ray of the film?

The Black Album with a 3rd disc of unreleased tracks from that '87-89 era would be cool.

Pretty much. Parade would also be an option for an outtakes/Dream Factory pairing, with a DVD of his Birthday Show in Detroit.
