No one is talking about the long not edited studio version of The Beautiful Ones...the song is in circulation for years but the one leaked 2day is the best source available...a very good improvement vs previous versions available

Along with this one is a slightly better quality of “Chocolate” and the rehearsals “White Girls Jam” / When The Saints Go Marching In / Another Lonely Christmas & Purple Rain / Irresistible Bitch.

on these piano jams; Prince is humming while playing (contrary to the other piano rehearsals which "leaked" before) - I can recognize an embryonic version of "Raspberry Beret" - very nice

what's the consensus now with these instrumental piano demos (there was "Raspberry Beret" too), but some people said that it was fake or someone trying to play like Prince since these were pure instrumentals and at no time we hear Prince's humming some melody while playing.

Furthermore the piano sounds different (the instrumental piano demos - the piano sounds much more like an electric piano with a piano sound) - whereas here it sounds like a real grand piano (not keyboard with piano sound expander)...

but we can hear the same jazzy and jumpy feeling with some nice footstomping and stops like on the pure instrumental one...

I love the jazzy feeling on the second part of the piano jam at approx 3mn25... which is an instrumental of another well known song... and Prince is humming too while playing... Although we won't hear no lyrics at all... (I noticed a rhytm box during a very short moment...)

So these 'leaks' are basically just re-releases of fan made compilations? There's nothing actually new here.

This new source has tape hiss throughout and isn't the best source available, years ago u much better quality version started circulating on a compilation with other outtakes.

There's two versions of the tracked that have newly leaked, one (with a length of 6:20 and labeled "studio outtake") is as you stated, the other (with a length of 6:14 and labeled "Uncut") sounds much better. It's an improvement over what I've previously had.

They are both the same leak, the 6:14 one is just the 6:20 one "cleaned up"

These 'leaks' are a big hoax. There's nothing new in them. They are re-releases of fan made material. Someone has attempted to remaster the audio and that's all.

Nothing new and a waste of time and energy.

"Hoax" and "fan made"?

I haven't yet had the time to listen to all of what just leaked, and I would not be surprised if there are some "fan made hoaxes" among them, but to say that "that's all" these are isn't true.

From what I've listened to, a few are vastly superior to what has widely circulated beforehand. A couple of them are "attempts to remaster" (some quite successfully) but a few others are from entirely new sources that have absolutely not circulated amongst most of us.

Most of it, I would agree is a rehash and find it debatable that they are improvements myself but I would not use the words "hoax" or "fan made" to describe the attempts or claim "that's all" to be found in this latest batch.

If you have had a copy of Electric Intercourse from First Avenue 83 that sounds this good, most of us didn't and yours is from a different source. If you prefer existing copies of The Beautiful Ones outtake to the recent leak labeled "Uncut", more power to you. Those two tracks alone are worth hunting down for sure. A few more of the tracks are worthwhile as well.

In my-not-so-humble opinion, of course... wink

I should clarify, to me a "hoax" is a complete fabrication, such as a thread about a nonexistant We Gets Up bootleg or as one orger did awhile back, claiming to have the outtake 3 Nigs Watchin' A Kung Fu Movie and "proving" it by sharing a short clip from a rehearsal that was absolutely not the 3 Nigs outtake.

I would describe "fan-made" as edits made by fans to create a fake extended version for instance. I do not consider tweaks or attempts to remaster as "fan-made" even though quite often I prefer the material untouched.

Then there's "fake", which I reserve for material that is not really Prince at all but is labeled as Prince.

Perhaps my definitions vary from those of others. That's cool. wink

That's too bad you think of it this way. Because it's the complete opposite. Yes, out of all the leaks, some of them weren't new at all, hell one of them (God) was the official version. But except this one and maybe two more, ALL of this came from a private collector's tape, and not from a fan who decided all of a sudden to "remaster" these songs (just the hiss makes it obvious). And if it was really someone trying to remaster some outtakes, where does the live performance of "The Stick" comes from? Where does the "Can't Stop This Feeling I Got" rehearsal comes from? Where does the "Wednesday" with an ending that was uncirculating until now comes from? Where does the live performance of "Electric Intercourse" (from a better soundboard) comes from? So to say there's nothing new doesn't really make sense at all.

Ah right!
i just found it and indeed that sounds better, could this be the version that was used (and tweaked?) for 'The Work'/'Work It' set from decades ago? Because that version was I think the best we had previously and that one was pretty good except for the weird, too loud right channel.
