Agree in that there's no evidence at all that Prince mistrusted Phaedra. He seemed to keep her closely involved in his business matter until his death. He really valued her role in getting his master's back (he apparatently gave her a Tesla as a thank-you).

-

the stuff that some other said about her in their police interviews were not things Prince said, and we'd need to know more about these issues to know for sure what was going on. I do have to keep in mind that some of the people speaking had their tenures with Prince end in ways they didn't want, and they are harboring some bitterness. Not that they're lying, and not defending Phaedra at all, but just that everyone has a perspective that doesn't represent the entirety of every situation.

-

I do hope some investigate journalist or law enforcement digs into these business issues if there's any chance there was unethical or illegal practices by Prince's associates.

Perhaps Prince was referring to someone who was actually trying to help him. How do we know? He misdirected suspicion and paranoia in his time for sure. Love the guy, but he was far from perfect, and shunned people who got too close, whether they meant well or not.

I did feel like some of his camp were keeping information from the police, and didn't like that. But we don't know what the truth is exactly about who supplied him those pills. Heck, he could have ordered them online himself, but I'm guessing he put it in someone else's name if he did.

Feels wrong to drag people through and question their grief because of some comment he allegedly made about some mystery person.

You all shouldnt be so quick to throw Phaedra under the Bus...

nor Van or JAYZ for that matter...

The three of them are closely affiliated with each other to this day...

and are working together in arenas where the common goal is BLACK RIGHTS

Now think about it...

DO you really think that Prince was such an idiot that he didnt know the good hearted from the bad ? !!!

Here are some facts...

Prince was keen to release his Music VIA Peer to Peer

We have evidence from Jester who mentions in a podcast that Prince gave him copies of HITNRUN

to sell and told him to keep the Profits

We also have Merons statement where she clearly states that the CASH she had was from Peer to Peer sales...

This is a revolutionary move..

Prince signed copyright from his last 4 Albums over to the Dreamcorps Office address (readily available information from US Copywrite office) This clearly indicates that he was setting up some kind of a system where at least some of the royalties from his music went towards social causes

As far as I know this has not been attempted by any other recording artist in history

Knowing Princes philanthropic side, and his desire to help People, whatever Phaedra was setting up for him was NOT done behind his back, instead I would suggest that Prince had a plan and Phaedra was the one who had to work around all the legalities in order to make that Plan a reality and advise him accordingly

Re signing with Warners was a practical move.this time Prince as the New owner of his Masters, had the Upper Hand.Remember he had no personal issues with Warners, he objected to the fact that they Controlled his ART...Once he had ownership of it, He set up NPGPublishing , with the intention of licensing his music which means also collecting Royalties.

There was obviously a LOT going on that we dont know and as far as accusing Phaedra of stealing from Prince...NO...Id say its more likely that Phaedra was trying to keep a cap on Princes generosity while she was getting a Structure in place....

Not an easy thing to do when you are building a NEW Structure...You dont have anything to Model on

and therefore there are bound to be obstacles..

One of the main obstacles after His passing would have been that a lot of Princes desires would have been verbally communicated to Phaedra and possibly Van, so there would have been NO PROOF...Im surmising that Phaedra knew that there was no point in fighting, perhaps she did destroy some documents, and not saying what she did was right, however if she was half way to setting up some kind of alternative Muical distribution System its likely that she had not yet crossed all the "T"s and it probably did look shady, since it was incomplete...

Really good points. People do often harbor resentment towards those who are their replacements. I think this stuff needs to be looked into, but perception of mysterious actions often indicate something about the people preceiving them.

A couple things I was thinking about...

1.) Older associates saying Prince never carried money or his own bags. Look at pictures of him going to St. Bart's -- not only did he carry his bags, but also the particular bag he was carrying appparently contained cash. Also, there was cash in the vault and he was the only one with the combo.

2.) Correct me if I am wrong, but P's lawyer was willing to let the investigators look through the computer in his room as long as he was in the room while they did it.. They waited until they got a search warrant instead (I guess so they could have everything in it). If they had taken him up on it, they would have seen what was in there. The lawyer might have expressed his concern with others in P's camp that whatever was in there (private or otherwise) would be a part of the investigative files which would have inevitably been part of the public record (due to the Freedom of Information Act.) Could it be as innocent as they wanted to protect his privacy but didn't have time to peruse the whole of his gmail history for non-pertinent emails so they did a clean sweep?

There's no mention in either of Jay Z burning Prince CDs on-stage

As for Jay Z being "part of the illuminati," i'm not getting into that, but I will say that until the end of his life Price was working with Tidal.

I think the burning/chanting did not occur. That would have certainly merited mention in the Billboard and NYTimes reviews.

Actually, I'm glad the OP started this thread because Phaedra's name is taking quite a beating these days, especially since Debra Johnson's interview was made public. It should be known that Phaedra was seeking to make sure that her name was removed as manager of NPG Records. Now, why she ever held that role, to begin with, is another question, altogether; however, assuming Prince was of sound mind, he must have approved that arrangement. That Estate thread is so long and unwieldy that it is very time-consuming to navigate and follow.

To reply.....: Just because Prince put Phaedra in-charge of Mgr of NPG Records, does not prove she was trustworthy. From what I've been reading from the investigation, Phaedra was good at manipulating people, and perhaps even Prince. He was probably impressed with her intellect and her business savvy mind, and so he trusted her. Lots of people are good at putting an act on--it does not mean they are ethical.

It appears she was doing something shady.

Read ALL the documents. It appears someone fancied themselves as having a position of import & power in the life and estate of decedent. The facts state otherwise wherein the court specifically states petitioner has absolutely no rights in requesting access to decedents personal affairs & estate. The courts requested petitioner provide any/all documents involving decedent (including e-mails) and demanded no records are to be destroyed. Reprehensible reprobate or saviors & saints; deeds are always revealed. Examination of facts contained therein - thank you public documents - speak for themselves. Interesting audio indeed. Why do you think the phone call with Debra Johnson, P's prior business manager abruptly ended and we cant listen to Part 2 as it was withheld by Carver County?

She said P fired Universal and Phaedra OWNED the new entitites that received the benefit of Ps royalties from his publishing. Phaedra was both an owner, and a member/shareholder of these entities. That is a no, no.

This is shady as f*ck.

This explains why we havent heard Part 2 of Debra's interview.

Truth & facts speak for themselves. Actions not words.

Do you have links? If so, please provide them and I will gladly read them. The only court document I saw was the petition filed by Phaedra and Comerica. As I said on the now locked thread, this was my takeaway after closely reading that petition:

The way I read this, Phaedra Ellis-Lamkins was attempting to ascertain that she had been legally removed from her role as "member" and manager of NPG Music Publishing "to ensure she did not face potential liability for the actions of the Special Administrator on behalf of NPG Music."

Comerica's position was that she was effectively removed from that role as of April 27, 2016, six days after Prince's passing.

I read nothing to suggest the OP's claim that she demanded "full access to the decedents (Prince) private affairs, personal documents, finances and his ENTIRE estate."

She is asking that any attorney's fees incurred from these proceedings be paid for by the estate of Prince Rogers Nelson, which, I think, is understandable.

Bottom Line: I think this is a good thing. I'm relieved, as based on Debra Johnson's police interview, I was left with the impression that Phaedra might still retain control of Prince's publishing catalog. It's good to know that is not the case.

The petition is linked below, so anyone interested can read it in its entirety.

Edited to add additional court document found:

In this document, it seems that Phaedra has requested documentation that she has been removed from her role as manager of NPG Records. Toward that end, she asked to view and copy some NPG records. This request was denied because she was not a "party" and, thus, had no standing to make such a request.

This part of the Special Administrator’s Objection to Phaedra Ellis-Lamkins’ Petition was also noteworthy, but, again, I'm not sure it is "shady":

"Petitioner does not claim to be an heir, devisee, child, spouse, or beneficiary of the estate. Instead, the Petition asserts that “Petitioner . . . has or may have a property right in or claim against the estate that may be affected by the proceeding.” In the six months of this estate administration, however, Petitioner has not asserted any property rights or claims against the Estate (and the time for doing so has expired), and the Petition does not identify any other property right or claims that she asserts. Therefore, no Minnesota rule or statute gives Petitioner the right to demand documents from the Special Administrator."

The petition filed by Phaedra was her request to be relieved of personal liability as P's manager. This was filed in February 2017.
