Since I can't include the full extended guitar version of "Crucial", because it hasn't been officially released, then I will have to give the extended version of "Paisley Park" my vote.

.

A very very close second is the solo from "I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man".

How could I forget the solo on the 12" of Paisley Park! wonderful stuff

What would you consider princes greatest guitar solo (On Record not Live)

Mine would be the solo on "Batdance."

Dreamer

Shhh

Temptation

Colonized Mind

Bambi

When I lay My Hands on You

Just to name a few...

That's a good list. Also just based on the rawness and intensity of it, I'd add the short Lady Cab Driver and I hat U solos. I also love I Will. It's perfection in a Santana kind of way.

Dreamer, or um.. was there a solo in Temptation, that had some rockin guitar in it. Did he play the solo in Fascination or was that Mike Scott? I like the solo in I Like It There.

I’ve been informed that my opinion is worth less than those expressed by others here.

I know it's not the 'greatest' greatest,... but the ending solo from 'Gold' deserves a mention.

I always liked the holy river one to.

It was not in vain...it was in Minneapolis!

I've always enjoyed the guitar on Annie Christian. It sits under the mix and is riotous...I reckon.

The song "PlectrumElectrum" has stellar guitar work. It's basically a 4 minute 38 second guitar solo. I don't know if all of the guitar solos are Prince, but whomever did them, the solos are excellent!

The full recording of this song was filmed in the studio and is on Tidal - so you can find out biggrin

3. Dreamin about U - yeah, it’s a bass solo, but it’s very “Jaco’ish” and is so melodic and dreamy. Half point deduction for playing it on the guitar.

Pretty certain that's Rhonda playing the fretless bass.

Pink Cashmere is just so timeless while being recorded in 1988. You could put out that song today with a big star and it would've been the ballad of the decade. The interplay with strings and that guitar solo really makes an great argument why his playing is more appealing than all the other best guitarists at that same time. It got so much soul it's crazy. And that drum programming ads to the flavour. No one did it like him. He never played it safe. God damn, my love for Pink Cashmere is endless.
