FlyOnTheWall

It was not perfect, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. As many have said, it was a respectful and deferential treatment of his career, focusing on the last year. Of course, many will be critical...and water is wet. So it is.

It was totally harmless, as many have said, respectful and factual with some (fan) footage which was nice to see - the interviews offered little by way of anything insightful, although moving at times.

Obviously no connection with the family/estate and nothing in there which was 'official', and didn't offer any new information that wasn't already in the public domain.

A nice documentary - but not groundbreaking nor offered anything new.

Sad still.

I completely agree, I did find the interviews moving and it really hit home to me that he never did stop but he did what he wanted I guess 💜

It’s odd 3rd Eye Girl or Joshua Walton were not even mentioned.

I seem to recall 3rdEyeGirl were mentioned or captioned just once. I also spotted Hannah on drums at one of those performances in the final year footage I think.

Prince had already moved on from 2014/2015 musically, different combination of live band members when he did perform in 2015 to 2016 and of course this last year was the Piano and a Microphone tour which was him solo.

Not sure there's anything to be read into their absence from the documentary. cool

i watched it and found it harmless too. a few things popped in my mind.

the footage of him jumping up and down, made me think how strong opioids must be.

the cancellation the week before, was that indeed the flu.

and if Judith was his girlfriend he would not have wanted to have an incident in front of her.

i hope Andy and Ceelo have had opportunity to cry real good because at that taping they seemed

still to be pushing things down and trying to stay in the happy place. granted it is tv and they

might not want to do that tv. i am glad she pushed him to do P&M, that was lovely and very

unselfish. thanks for offering up the link ISLIJAG!

They should have interviewed Dhani Harrison to ask him what he thought of Prince’s rock n roll hall of fame performance lol

Truly awesome!

I liked the matter-of-fact approach. No emotion, just facts.

It was interesting to see Prince's last band performance was with a Ray Charles tribute band! The footage was incredible!

There were so many incredible clips shown. Just too many to mention.

Yet again I'm feeling it wasn't his time. He had at least another 30 years! I wish he'd looked after his health.

neutral

And supposedly that was the first time Prince had ever been inside the Chanhassen Dinner Theater.

Discussed here several times, including refutations that he no longer played the guitar in 2016.

First mention here was almost immediate.

I enjoyed it, was very respectful and some cool footage. Some nice anecdotes too, interesting to hear Andy Allo claim she was the one who pushed him to do the P&M tour.

So did she say they were an item?

Both Andy Allo and Judith Jones were referred to as "girlfriends".

It felt a bit rushed but I think they did their best with what little time they had.I was pleased to see Shelby, Adrian and Justine Walpole speak a bit.Eryn Allen Kane's interview segments were very sweet and emotional and she seems like she genuinely loved Prince.Andy's segments were a bit vague. What was shown didn't really give much insight into their relationship last year but I assume from what she said about the P&M shows that they were in touch. The end was very emotional and I would have liked a performance instead.

She (Andy) didn't mention, or even imply it...It was the narrator who termed her such but I'm assuming Andy must have described herself as his girlfriend to the production team, for it to be in there?

I did okay, until the end. They showed my tweet to him and then stated that he had tweeted that he was feeling those things. I'll never get that corrected. So to the Prince fans, Prince didn't tweet that he was feeling rejuvenated, feeling inspired, feeling loved. I tweeted that to him three days after the final concert. He just didn't know how to retweet properly and copied and pasted it.

He hated when people changed his words around in interviews and such. I'm sure he would not like having words put on him that he never said (or wrote).

Here is the original tweet to Prince:

I assume she probably did or someone else confirmed it.Andy hasn't said anything about the documentary and she doesn't seem to want to draw attention to her involvement. She also seems to want to keep things private.I would have liked if they had showed a bit more about the conversation concerning the P&M shows. It looked like she had been talking for a while when they started the clip...same when she was discussing RocknRoll LoveAffair.Would have liked to hear more from her,Shelby,Adrian,Eryn and Justine.

I always thought it was kind of cute that he didn’t know how to properly reply to tweets or use the quote tweet features. He actually made it a lot harder on himself with the copy paste method. lol

lol It *was* cute, but not so cute when they are saying YOUR words belong to someone else. hmmph. I tried contacting CNN regarding their story of the timeline leading up to....and telling them they got it wrong and asking them to correct it. It hit hard when I was watching CNN that Friday after and suddenly seeing my tweet show up on TV and them saying Prince said he was feeling rejuvenated. And now this documentary... ugh.

I told my ex back then that I should not be a part of *that* timeline and he said, "You were always a part of that timeline."

Awww, Benni - I can imagine that must be really frustrating - and it shows just how these inaccuracies can take hold in the media, resulting in misrepresentation of all parties...
.
However, I imagine, if he took the time to copy / paste your tweet (and must have known it would be perceived as being his own as a result), he must have really appreciated your words, and found them resonating with his own feelings. Perhaps they represented his own inner thoughts more than you / we know. heart

I was wondering how that worked in order for the narrator to say that.

Yes I feel Andy’s segment were vague as well I wonder if that was because she was still being guarded and never really let them “in”. On the other hand Ceelo and eryan and Van were very sincere. I loved the way Ceelo described P after the show. That was/is what I need to hear, those last bits. I know that perhaps that is meant only for family but a few are nice and help close the wound for me.

Edited to add: not that Andy was in anyway insincere.

There were a few tidbits that stood out but overall it was a lackluster and it didn't really provide much insight that the majority already knew. Even the provided video clips aren't new nor exclusive, however it was nice to see them.

It was overwhelming about the mention of 4/21 in the beginning and at the end. It was like experiencing deja vu all over again. You couldn't convinced me from watching the clips like of him playing guitar at dinner theater and riding his bike that something would happen on that day sad
