Simply his presence in the industry. I miss being excited (but not surprised) that a new Prince album was on the way, staying up all night listening to his recent work in order to compare them. I miss the thought of him lighting up a stage, whether he was sitting at a piano with a backdrop or electrifying the crowd on top a giant Love Symbol. I miss the random Paisley Park performances and the sudden non-album singles released through his website. Damn it, I just miss him and knowing that he’s probably strollingg on his bike through Minneapolis.

Yep that gets me every time. Also makes me wonder why he didn’t perform dolphins more during his career. Amazing song.

Yeah, please continue, I think we just made the derail of the year.
Sorry for the perceived agressiveness, databank.
I have yet to see an 21st century elite caring for the good of mankind
instead of their own, but let's move this to "General discussion" if necessary.

I find Prince to be a very good antidote when things get bleak, that's all.
So I would reply "the lack of humour".

I have spent most of the time since his passing spending several hours a week revisiting his music I already had and being a maniac about getting and listening to the music I hadn't heard (I previously had no boots and nothing official past Planet Earth). I have sensed some empiness on the org about his passing but I think the joy of my pursuit helped counter my own. While there are still plenty of concerts I haven't heard, I just recently have gotten close to listening to my bucket list of Prince music (unless the estate releases some cool stuff). A wave of sadness and emptiness fills me up even as I type this. The joy of discovery with Prince music was unparalleled in my experience. Nothing Compares...

Just about everything. His music and his presence on Earth were so pervasive thoughout my life for such a long time. My thoughts gratvitate to him often through the day. But he's always had that effect on me. I enjoyed him haunting me in life, and it's all good him haunting me from the afterlife.

.

Some days I miss him with a heartfelt smile, and then there are days, like today, when I miss him with an indescribable sadness. I miss him. Every. Single. Day.

.

But as long as I can hear you smiling baby, you won't hear my tears.

.

heart U.

This is too noisy and lo def. I'm trying to salvage it.
Sadly I can get any sharper than this, otherwise I'll burn it.
What is needed is a hi-def scan of the music sheets book, or the poster.

As you can see there were some more hair under the hat! The wonder of Photoshop...
I'll link it when it's done. Should be printable in hi-def around 20x20 cm (the lesser the best definition) without being too noisy, I don't think you can push it to a vynil size, it's problematic when you go from lo-def to hi-def.

I remember this picture from the musical sheets book of Parade.
I was trying to memorize the whole shit, reading in the Music Stow, cuz I didn't have the money to bring it home.

I miss him especially when I hear new music that I think he would've really dug. For the past couple of days, Snoh Aalegra and St. Vincent's new albums have triggered this fleeting feeling. Before that, Kamasi Washington's Harmony of Difference, Isley Brothers & Santana's Power of Peace and Kendrick Lamar's Damn. evoked the same twinge of sadness. Then the music submerges the sadness and makes everything bearable. smile

OK Guys, this is the best I could get from it.

Original File

Photoshopped file

Keep in mind the source scan was low definition, and the paper was probably from 1986, so...
But at least it looks a little bit fresher.

Important: don't try to print it above 25x25 cm (9.8x9.8 inches),
presonnaly I would go with 20x20 cm (7.9x7.9 inches). Otherwise artefacts will appear.
That said, if you plan to hang it and to be looked at from a distance, you can try a slightly bigger size.
If you set your printer on the highest quality possible and use special glossy paper, you should be good.

If I left some dust in the white area, please tell me. If black ain't truly black as well.
Jeff Katz is so good that there was actually his necklace cross hidden in the pixels! But it was so damaged I preferred to make it just a "ghost" of a cross.

I miss the daily humor of Prince. The thought of not being able to meet the guy and just say "hi" and see a response. I miss the spectacle and results from all of the hard work that he put into his projects, that will never continue (that a lot of people people pissed on while he was alive).

I think for me it's always the same 2 things:

1) that I will never be able to experience those awesome live concerts that people speak of

2) that he left (in my opinion) 2 early and unnecessarily

Also read an article on Huffington Post that contained this statement: ..."many of these "advocates" retreated from Prince in the 1990s and feel guilty for doing so because now he is dead"

yep, pretty much summed me up

my missing Prince:
it's the way i use to hold him in my heart while he lived in my space in time.
now there's a feeling of a void within that i cannot seem to refill except sometimes with "missing him" tears.

The state of the world, period. I long for times when things weren't perfect, but a lot better. Those were the years Prince was on earth. I am just glad they he didn't have to come into this with us, and that he lived during the end of the good times.

The state of the world? What in your travels have you seen that have you bummed? I've just returned to the US from 20 years outside the country and things are not as bad as the news blends them up to be.

To answer the OP question: We would probably be on Hit and Run Phase 4 by now and he would have taken a live hiatus to get well this past year and finished his book.

When I read the thread asking if Prince had only written 50 pages of his memoir before he died. I was especially looking forward to reading this book, from the minute it was announced. It saddens me to know that we will never see the finished book from him. I think it would have been an impactful book, since we know Prince didn’t do anything half-assed, and it would have added even more cachet to an already stellar career. It probably would have had the success of other rock star memoirs such as Keith Richards’ ‘Life’. Thinking about this made me miss him the other day.

If there's one thing Prince did do half assed, it was books. I would have bought it but am not convinced it would have been anything like as detailed and tell all as some other stars memoirs.

He half assesd many things like websites, merchandise, product distro, professional relationships etc.

Performances and music were his gift and that was what he was best at.
