AND...I don't think Prince and Sharon have spoken since then FOR SURE. SOOO...why all the "respect" demanded be given Sharon is BEYOND me.

I find that strange too. Tyka did not agree to a Q & A but Sharon did and it is my understanding she wasn't even close to Prince, so...

It will be interesting to see if she replies to some questions, though. Like the one about the song "Sister" and about Prince having been left alone that night. I'm sure a lot of people refrained from asking what was really on their minds...

you're right but if she comes to this place to speak, i don't think it's tasteful to criticize her as a guest of the org. I don't have much interest in what she has to say, she's already proved to be a bit of a fibber.

It was a question, not criticism. I have no interest in what she has to say either, therefore I posed no question on that ridiculous thread.

Daddy Pop was there during the Under The Cherry Moon premiere along with Devin Devasquez ( she was a dyme)...after that= no clue....I did read years later at a rehearsal Mom was there & Prince spent time talking to her.

Yes, Lorna brought the suit and dragged Duane and John into. We are discussing Prince and his Dad and why he may not have been speaking to him for a while.

I always thought Prince's father was a little jealous of him. There was definetly a love/hate relationship thing going on there at some point.

Well, I doubt she knows the answers to most of them and she won't even adress those two I mentioned above, imo.

Sharon doesn't have time for these questions on a forum. She is currently negotiating a re-release of her (3) set CD between Prince's dear friend, "Jay-Crook"... I mean Jay-Z , (aka "Jay I so wanted to be his handler"-Z ), and I-Tunes.

According to reports, the sticking points for release dates hinges on which moderator on this forum will sing her praises and allow no criticism of anything she says or sing . Nevertheless, she is trending in Tunisia as we speak.

We know very little about his parents. Much has been made over small, decades old snippets. I'm pretty sure if strangers knew as little about our relationships with our parents they would get a ton of their theories wrong. From the outside looking in. His father was an artist who apparently needed alone time. It no doubt was challenging for such a temperament to work in a factory & live the wife & 2.4 kids life. There's much we don't know, but we do know Prince looked after them till the end & they never sold him out, like other famous people's parents have. I've found a lot of the things said about his parents over the years to frankly be in bad taste. They messed up in his youth in certain areas, they are far from alone there. The clock couldn't be turned back but obviously there was mutual love there. Also it is interesting to note that whenever an associate etc has been asked about his parents, the majority have had nice things to say. The latest being Wally. [Edited 7/27/17 10:18am]

I always heard that Lorna was the one that Sister was supposedly about - the one that lived in New York he went to stay with.

Prince told Tavis that his father was " hard on him " and he was " never good enough ". Damaging words for sure. I hope Prince knew that he was so much better than his father could ever be.

Their r'ship has been pretty well documented if you read all his interviews...

They were close in the 80s then fell out in the 90s after John Nelson did that TV interview with A Current Affair in 1990..

Something just crossed my mind: what if the song Sister and Prince being thrown out of the house by his father were related incidents?

huh? i think someone mentioned that as a possibility before, it being his sister that his dad caught in the room. I doubt it, prince was probably just being passive aggressive with sharon, it seems like they didn't ever have a smooth relationship so him making a song to get at her seems plausible. the family was dyfunctional just like a good portion of american families are.

Not all of Princes songs were autobiographal you know. I remember him saying that in the early days he was obsessed with pushing the envelope, i think a song about incest falls into this category.
