I'm 50 now. Back in 1985 when I traveled to Minneapolis to see if I could experience some Prince first-hand I was 19 and I thought Prince was kinda old at 27! He was just a baby too, really.

21 here! got 1999 on vinyl and itunes, parade on vinyl, dirty mind on vinyl, ATWIAD on CD and itunes, and PR and Sign on iTunes. Introduced to him by my mom but got deep into his music and catalogue within this past year.

I have about 15 albums on my phone, including most of his 80s work. Nothing physical yet, but I'm buying HITNRUN Phase 1 and 2 on CD soon to start my physical collection and of course getting PR Deluxe on CD as well.

There are still huge gaps in my Prince knowledge, most glaringly everything between The Gold Experience and 3121. What I most want to listen to in between those is The Rainbow Children and Crystal Ball.

As for what led me to his music... before his death I was familiar with him as a big time popstar from before I was born, like Michael Jackson. I had even listened to a few of his songs that were on Youtube, but of course there wasn't much on there when he was alive. Once he passed though, I started listening to everything I could find on Youtube, and I started becoming obsessed really quickly. I don't know, I just fell in love with him and his music like no other artist. So as for what introduced me to him, I guess you could say his reputation did.

I wish I knew what you asked. But I forgot to add how I got into prince. Easy, I wanted to know the man that made my uncles skip out on Easter Sunday, cause my pregnant mother to call someone else to get her to the ER to have me early morning 4/8/1985. Even my mom darn doctor got there after the Purple Rain aka Purple Bowl Concert lol. I was supposed to be born 4/7/1985 at 8pm. But I guess Prince was more important as a lot people was there for the last concert of the tour and some of the hospital staff was VERY late to work. First time I saw Prince performing live was Arsenio Hall late night show. I was like 4yrs old and then again on MTV performing Gett Off. Y'all don't understand how my little face looked when Prince flashed his buttocks.
Unfortunately mama wasn't having it after that. Christian household! But when I started being in band, marching band, church band, shedding (Musicians know what shedding is), and live studio recording I got into Prince jam sessions. Mr. Ahmir Thompson and other celebrates came to FAMU come down to see the marching 100's. I heard that Prince was coming to FAMU but I thought it was a rumor until some friends and my cousin called screaming "Yo do you know who was just in our band room, HIM. It was him, him, him, omg him." So I missed out on that moment because I didn't think it was true. But Prince and Michael Jackson are two artists that will forever influence generations long after we all are gone with their Superior perfection to music. I love hearing Prince, Andre, Brown Mark, etc... have Jam sessions I'm 30+ mins long because that's how I got into music staying after church and after choir rehearsals having jam sessions until like 4-5am. With candy, chips, and sprite for snacks.

You got a bad mama-jama profile of albums here! My list is more than this but I will be happy to answer any questions to which ones I own. Actually had that until someone from Public Storage stole my stuff from my soprano and alto saxophone to my Trumpet and music box with A LOT of soundcheck recordings from Isley Bros, Ohio Players, Sly Stone, Marvin Gaye, Motown Revue, Prince triple threat tour - The gold experience, Michael Jackson soundchecks from victory tour - History, and etc... all stolen and gone. All I have is what I was able to upload to my cloud drive. I know how Prince felt now when someone stole I think he said his guitar on the George Lopez show. But it's really sad people would whether steal than just ask. IF anybody know me, they know I'm the most giving person so it does hurt when people steal my music.
