Even though most of the info on this thread is a bit over my head, I think this is a great thread (the kind I wish they had more of on this forum) and I would love to buy a book that details Prince's instruments and rig set up... From his guitar to his drum machine. Of course, at the end of the day, the magic comes from Prince but it's still cool as a musician to learn what his instruments, effects pedal and rig set-up were like. | |

That's cool Somebody wants to make money off of this Put me down for the book or whatever media this info is going to be put on. Im sure everyone here understands that Prince was blessed with his talents and by us finally knowing what equipment was used don't expect to get anywhere near the sounds he was able to squeeze out of his guitar. We're just fans of his music and kindly wanted to know what was used by him and what his preferences were. That's all | |

Googled for images of the Anderson tele, and found some pictures which shows the Anderson guitar had a chrome cover over the bridge. I wonder whether Prince's instrument had this too, and thus he removed the cover (maybe to allow for right-hand dampening of the strings while playing to get a dry sound....). Any thoughts on this?
* Btw, when a cover was present and has been removed, a screw hole must be visible on either side of the bridge. [Edited 5/18/17 15:49pm] |

For what it's worth, he told us during a soundecheck in Cleveland that he found that guitar in a pawn shop attached to a gas station on his way to the studio one day. | |

I would love to see the mystery solved about this wonderful instrument. I'm going to look through my pics of Prince with Hohner to see what differences are noticeable. I did visit PP museum on opening day and saw his guitar on display. Not sure if its the same Hohner pictured in the new book. I have the book but it's still sealed. I'm going to break it open to see. | |

Let's start posting pics we all have to see the differences on guitars. We can name them after what period/album Prince was in at the time. I wish one or more of his techs could chime in and let us know how many of these guitars Prince really had. | |

The thinking is the very next picture is the front of that same guitar - if you look closely you can see the different colouration in the wood of the neck at the 8th fret (a lighter swirl in the maple that seems to be visible on the front and back at the same area) What we don't know is whether it is just the same neck or same complete guitar Either way great pics - especially for someone in the UK that hasn't got the Paisley Park guitar book yet  |

He had that guitar with the woodgrain imperfection for awhile then. I don't think that can be duplicated or he would have wanted that much detail in a copy. That also goes for the pickguard, same pattern on most of those pics. There's no way he could have gotten the same pattern ( assuming these were cut from larger sheets) on any two pickguard. That must have been one special guitar for him to keep it around so long. Btw what image host are you using? I want to post some pics too | |

Ok, that cleared up a lot. I have another question, when did Prince use the Sadowsky guitar posted here? I know he must have changed that hideous pickguard and changed the headstock logo because I've never seen Prince play that guitar in its original form. It should be easy to spot and by the beautiful flame maple top. Original Hohners didn't seem to have such fancy wood tops. Could you post the pics that the others sent to you? I would love to see what's in the book. ( still haven't unwrapped mine yet) | |

Not to sidetrack...
I purchased this tribute guitar to display at my home. I have the leopard strap and am only waiting a nice wall frame to display it in.
The person that makes them would not give up his source for the pickguard, but it is damn close to the original.
I know Prince didn't have the tortise shell binding, but I thought it looked hot on the guitar.
