No, it was filmed on film. And then edited on video. That's why for the BD they went back to those films, scanned them at a high resolution and re-edited the resulting digital video EXACTLY like the existing episodes, and did CGI that for the most part exatly matched the existing (cheesy) original one. This has been widely reported on. This has cost a fuckton of money and apparently it isn't making them enough money so they're not gonna do it for DS9 or Voyager.

when mods take action and issue a ban or time out or delete a post or whatever... it is best to not debate it or take action or appeal on their behalf as this is not the place to do that... I would think that such posts would be frowned upon.

yes, but the org can't run/hide/diffuse like that. and since this is the place where a lot

I take your point, although whilst this is a great place to discuss Prince relate news it is pretty small comnpared to the facebook groups which often have over 40-50,000 members.

It just seems a sad world where you can have as much justice as you can afford. Youtube have put up billions of hours of material which they probably don't have permission to do. The sheer voloume of Prince material is huge. Don't get me wrong, it's great that people can listen to Prince's work but perhapd the estate need to have some clear policy otherwise it just appears random as to what they choose to allow.

Bummer. I'd got the sense that SiFi had been authorized to share that clip as a sign of goodwill from WB...

That seemed obvious. I thought Sifi was a WB plant. I bet Warners had a meeting about slipping that video snippet to the Org. The best thing would have been to have snipped his/her link and given a warning. Sifi was our only legitimate lifeline to info about what was actually happening on the PR reissue.

yeah WB had it removed... over some half-baked claim of copyright violation based on there being some Prince artwork on the original image. A list of songs can not itself be copyrighted... so they played a little dirty. So he reposted it without the image.

Probably not, I have one wich is 30:40. It's the unmixed, uncut version of the version that appeared on the 12-inch with Another Loenly Christmas on the back.

It is interesting how different the world of the Prince forum and Facebook are now. Links to anything realeased are made avilable on Facebook within minutes and continue to be shared but obviously on forums like this they are not.

Is it possible to explain why Youtube are immune from these issues by the Safe Harbour laws, but Prince.org are not? It's not a criticism of the Org, I just assume that better lawyers buy you more rights.

Here's the thing (I assume, not being a mod)--but when people get dinged on Facebook and Youtube for copyright, it's individual account holders that get gotten, and that person can make the choice to risk their own account. But a post here puts the entire forum at risk, and, quite honestly, we as individuals don't have the right to make the choice to risk things for everyone. I'm not sure why this is so confusing to everyone that somebody gets all up in arms about it every month or two, but it's really not that complicated. Sure, I'd like it if Prince/Prince's estate/Prince's record company had a different approach to the issue, but unless they decide officially that they do, we need to be sensible and keep the forum safe.
