People give the producer crap for adding stuff but the organ and choir was perfect.

The only part I think about "what could have been" is the choir in "Deliverance". I think back to how he used Sounds of Blackness on "The Future". It sounds nice in Deliverance, but generic in some way that i can't put my finger on...

It's a nice song, but I don't believe it is from 2007.

.

It sound exactly like something from Emancipation and perhaps updated or recorded in 2007.

Man, if he had added these to Planet Earth, it would have turned that album into something listenable!

Strange that he made/let that album be so subpar and faceless (for the most part, bar a couple of decent-ish tracks), when he clearly had more interesting stuff in the can. Maybe just wasn't right for what he thought he needed at the time, which was an album to give away free with a paper - I guess he thought it was as chance to win over casual fans/listeners with a purely pop album... but still, to this day, Planet Earth is Prince's worst album to me.

Anyway, I'm loving these newly released tracks. Shame there has to be such a hoo-ha about the release, but I'm glad we're hearing these songs.

is it just me, or does anyone else think, especially now that we know what else he created at the time, that albums like "Planet Earth" were created for general consumption, and he just thought that hs really creative stuff just wouldn't fly with the listening public at large?

This entire disc is outstanding beyond belief. I've had the whole thing on loop all morning. Maybe listened 20+ times. I haven't listened to a P album like this since LotusFlow3r.

As the song builds I get goosebumps. Almost perfect in every way. The perfect meld of melody, lyrics, and production. I tell you...the stuff Prince would noodle on before noon in the studio and then order Papa John's. Why didn't he release this when it came out???

I love that this is getting such wide acclaim. But if this was an official release there would be so many people complaining that it's only 15 minutes and one of the sogs is on there twice.

I don't understand how those things work or what u mean by 'quick' buck, but judging on their scribblings via 'rma.is' site... it seems intentions are good:

That's cool if true, but ther's a right way and a wrong way to go about it. If his intention is to donate some proceeds to the estate, he should have spoken to them about it.

Does anybody know if you can hear the song "Deliverance" anywhere now? I didn't get to hear it. Also, do you think that song and the EP will ever be released? I was so looking forward to it!

It's perfect. Got everything, happy, dark, guitar, lyrics the usual 100% Prince fix.

I don't know, listen to the lyrics very very closely and you will see why, although sure, he could have changed the lyrics around.

This EP is very subpar Prince... Anyone calling this a masterpiece needs to go back into his catalouge and listen to his actual "masterpieces"... This is subpar Prince recorded during his most subpar era... The Planet Earth era.

I disagree. The choir drowns out Prince's voice; it's a nice song, but it would've been much better if this Boxhill guy had just left it alone.

Yeah, but I think in this case the overproduction is mostly Boxhill's work and not Prince's.
Another reason I wouldn't call this a masterpiece is the lyrics: once again, it's this message of "if we all come together, we'll live happily ever after". Nothing wrong with that, but it's something he has already told us lots of times.

It's fucking incredible. The man dies in 2016, but a released version of music from 2006-08 is just as amazing, relevant, and increaible as anything else.

I LOVE THIS ALBUM!!!!
