"Junkie" is not some medical term with a definition that everyone agrees on, so debating whetheror not Prince was a "junkie" is pointless. People who like to use that term or similar ones to describe Prince or other people will use it and others won't.

-

No matter how much any of us "tolerate" drug addicts or "junkies" or whatever had no impact whatsoever on Prince's life or death. If someone decides they now hate Prince because of what they now know about Prince's relationship with opioids (whatever that relationship wa)s, that's a choice THEY'RE making. It has nothing to do with Prince and doesn't impact his current status, which is dead.

Sorry, but I am vey anti drugs and given all his holier than thou preaching against the dangers of drugs this seems hypocritical. I don't think the drugs were planted or for anyone else. Prince was doing these on the sly, getting as many drugs as he could under fako names. these Kornbergs or whoever the heck they are were Dr Feelgoods, enablers just like Klein and Murray were to MJ.

.

Sorry I have no Toleration of drug addicts. Prince lied to us, that will go down in the record, especially as I defended him against friends of mine convinced he was another druggie rock star who died of a drug overdose, which is essentially what happened.

.

He was a relcuse and a hermit by the end, living his decrepit and falling down dated 80s mausoleum to himself, his last days must have been sad and painful. In that way I feel sorry for him and still love him. I am still a hardcore fan, but at the same time I just can not condone drug abuse. It just really shocked me when I read those reports released by the Minnesota whatever authority and the Reelz movie that showed him as some bizarre recluse living in the haunted gallows of Paisley Park.

.

I never loved Prince the person, as he was the opposite to me in so many ways. He was religious, conservative, sexist, unreasonable and demanding, whereas I am openly gay, atheist, communist, accepting of women as equals and very accomoodating in most matters. I always loved his music and his gifts, no one will ever touch his body of music, he had an amazing supreme level of talent, but that talent cost him in the end.

Well there is a HUGE issue here and that would be the term "junkie" which I highly doubt Prince was at any point in his life, Junkie is a term that we toss around like we know it means. If Prince was a "junkie" he never would have been on stage at any point, or if he would he would have died a long time ago. I dont think anyone is "condoning" drug use but IT is very easy for us to say "how could you get hooked" well guess what MILLIONS get hooked and probably most of them say "i would never get hooked". Pain meds are the most lethal thing in the world right now. doctors write and prescribe like fucking candy, the internet has become just what we thought it would become, a very dangerous vehicle for crime, be it anything from fake credit card numbers to sex trafficing to selling weapons to selling medications, the internet was the greatest and probably worst thing for a society to have. PAIN is a very tricky thing, and as you grow older your tolerance for that pain becomes less and less and being his LIFE was getting on that stage, he probably did what he could to get on that stage. We will never know the real truth, I really HOPE that everyone on the org. realizes that, despite , all these documents and hearsay and opinions, the one person who knows how it happened and what led to that last moment is not hear, so quite frankly this case was closed when his heart stopped beating, an autopsy a search warrant is not going to reveal anything.

I didnt see a search warrant for the medical records from Moline which is strange.

So I dont think the search warrants had verification of whether it was oxy or fentanyl.

It is also strange that no search warrant has been issued since September 2016.

ok, I found in the 3rd or 4th warrant where medical staff from Moline was interviewed and stated P had OD'd on opiates, in that warrant, KJ stated that he "thought Prince may have taken Percocet", and his thoughts were that that was what attributed to the OD in Moline.

I hear you about the "tolerating" or bashing of people addicted to drugs, but I believe that intolerant, arrogant bashing leads to stigma, denial and hiding.

I suspect rather than having "no impact," it had a big role to play in the quality of Prince's life, and in his death.

Thank you for pointing out that "junkie" is not a medical term. Addiction is a medical condition.

It's also worth bearing in mind that some people, people who are very anti-drug and have seen the ravages of addiction up close, eventually fall into addiction themselves. These situations can often be fueled by genetic predisposition.

It's dangerous to try to divide addicted people into "good" people and "bad" people. It is an artificial binary division. It dehumanizes people.

We shouldn't do this with people who suffer heart disease, AIDS, cancer, addiction, etc.

Who knows, Prince might be alive today if he knew that he and others could view addiction more like, e.g., epilepsy. What if most people (including Prince himself) could view him as a gifted, giving artist with an incredible work ethic...an artist who just happened to have a couple of medical conditions, conditions that are to be respected?

The truth is in individual stories. The truth is that Prince was a gifted, giving artist...and so much more. He worked so unbelievably hard that he was likely to have experienced enormous pain.

A dehumanizing, binary view of addicted people obscures those truths. That view may have helped cause his death. A voice may have told him that when it came to addiction, and to all medical conditions, he came from the BAD side of the tracks. A binary view creates an artificial construct of "these people" and "those people." I think it's likely that he died, in part, because he didn't want to be seen, by himself or others, as one of "those people." Heartbreaking.

I completely agree about the devastating affect of stigmas on people struggling with addiction; stigma prevents people from getting the help they need for their addiction as well as underlying physical or mental-health issues and that is enormously desctructive. I have no doubt that not only did stigma affect Prince, it afffected him far worse than a non-famous person because he had a whole carefully crafted public image and fan-base judgment to deal with.

-

My point is, in the case of Prince, he is now dead. That isn't changing, so whatever people feel about his particular health problems, his drug use, whatever -- whether it repulses them, they "don't tolerate it," they now hate him -- that's all on them. It has no impact on Prince because he's gone.

Thank you for your thoughtful, multifaceted response. I struggle to reconcile some of all that is Prince. : ) It sounds like you are farther along than I am with that. Like you, I have a lot of love.

You mention "no toleration of drug addicts." If you want to see fewer people addicted to drugs, I'd suggest not using terms like "junkie."

Also, I think any reasonable discussion of drug addiction needs to bear in mind the ability of drugs to remove pain, at least temporarily.

Physical and/or emotional pain can be so intense that people will take their own lives to relieve the pain. I don't imagine that Prince did that, but some of the people I'd most like to hear on the topic of drug addiction are those who have personally experienced chronic, excruciating pain.

Ok, I will jump right in to this. I have been a lurker on this forum for some time now, but BIG P fan since first 80´s. Have seen him many times live and I love him!

I don't know if P took drugs. Maybe for hip pain. I don't know what happend. I have my theories, but maybe I will save them for later.

I am one of the people who takes (depend on) drugs. Many drugs and each and every day for the last 5 years and maybe forever. Scary thought, but it can very well be the reality.

I have chronic pain. 5 years ago a car hit me and "funny" enough, I got hit at my right side of my hip/bottom and I am now better that than 5 years ago or even a year ago, but still have so much pain, that I need to take opiates night and day to just function.

I have experienced excruciating pain that my wish was to "not be here anymore", but at the same time you have this hope that things could get better and you are willing to fight to live and to do that, I HAVE to take medicin (prescription from my doctor) every day.

The daily dosis is enough to kill me if I took them all at once for the first time, but my body tolerates the drugs/medicin now and I don't get high AT ALL , but feel the side effects like nausea, tiredness, feeling heavy and so on.

I have never taken more than prescriped to me by my doctor. I don't want to and I can't because of the strictness from the doctors. If I get 60 pill, I can only get new ones the day I run out. And I have to show up personally and only in my own name. I can get others to get it from the pharmacy for me, but I have to sign myself and they have to show ID to get it for me.

Well, it could be that Prince had chronic pain, but to take so much (as found and believed) and still function. Compose, tour, dance and sing. Get so much work done and still hide it from others that you are on medication, I do not believe that!

Lets say he (P) had chronic pain, like I have. I have to lay down every half and hour and if I don't, (fx visit a friend or go to a café for hours) I have to stay in bed for 1-2 days because of the pain will get much much worse and I can't get up, get dressed, take a shower, make dinner. All the things you take for granted. Just have to wait to get "better" (more medicin and less pain).

I had to quit my good job because of the pain and it´s not the life i would want (or want for others), but it's my life now and I have to get the most out of it, even though I feel i'm waisting my time. I would like to work again and simply have my life back, but I can't.

What i'm trying to say, is that I don't believe P could do the job he did and even touring sounds crazy to me. But of course it depends of your pain and how much medicin you will have to take, but if he would take fentanyl or other strong opates(for pain), believe me, he was in a lot of pain. Even if he took opiates for an addiction (not pain), he would have to be superman. well, over the years I have thought of him as "superman", but not in this case. I simply do not belive he could do the things he did with him beeing a singer and tour the worlds and have "girlfriendS", get dressed nice every day and be in the studio for many many hours.

Everybody around me knows i'm on medication and everyone says they can't hear or see any different when on medication. I don't get high, I don't slour and I don't get weird. I don't drive of course, but if you didn't know me, you would't know that I take so much medicin everyday.Only that I get so tired and if I'm in a conversation, I would get stuck in my words sometimes because I can't "concentrate" when i'm in pain.

I don't know if P took anything and if he took the found pills, I'm not sure he could function and people in "inner circle" would know that "something" is different, but I suppose you can hide your pills. I have mine in a locked box (so my pet won't take it or kids visiting", so I don't have the pills on my dining taple, but people close to you know when you take it and how much. They see it (boyfriend and close family).

But with strong pain, lot's of opiates, I wouldn't function as an intertainer that's for sure. I would get too tired and the pain will get worse and when i'min much pain, I can't think. It's very hard even to be prensentable tothe "world" everyday.

Don't really know what my attension with this was, but someone on this tread (sorry, forgot your name), would like to hear from "a real life drug addict"(my words, not yours).

This is my first writing in this forum/tread. I don't really because my english is crap and (obvious) not my first (or second) language. I hope this is to be understood and sorry for my very long roman.

And my view of Prince doesn't chance wheather he took the pill(s) willingly or not. I still love him and think he is (not was) the best and i'm so sorry he's not here with us anymore. sad

And one last thing. I have huge issues with some people calling a person that takes prescriped medication, a "junkie" or "druggie". I don't consider myself as a junkie. Yes, I will get withdrawel if i just stopped today, but i NEED to take that medication and in a way i'm an addict as i can't function to daily life without them, but no junkie here!

It seems a lot of people expected Prince to be some type of pure living non human angel or something.

I wonder if those that have such high expectations of him are on that level themselves.

I have not lost any respect for Prince, why would I, after all he spent his life making amazing music and performances for the world, that is actually what he spent most of his life doing.

He basically worked his ass off doing that.

If the man became addicted to substances that he primarily was using for pain relief I dont see how that makes him a junkie.

The unfortunate thing is I get the feeling their are some kindof sick minded people out there that somehow relish in calling him a junkie ... most people in life dont achieve even a quarter or less than what Prince achieved with his musical career.

Adorecream -- allow for the possibility that some of those bottles of pills may have been planted to create the impression that P was a drug addict. Placing bottles of pills in several locations in PP is not consistent with P's meticulous nature. If he was hiding an addiction, placing bottles of pills in places where they could have been found was not a very smart thing to do.

If P had severe pain and was using pain medication to manage his pain condition, I see nothing wrong with that. The issue is determining where all the pills that were placed around PP came from. It seems extremely contrived to me and fits into my theory that the pills were planted.

Referring to P as a junkie is very disrespectful and says more about you than it says about him.

I'm not trying to be a meanie here, but honestly, as soon as I read in Mayte's book that he was "taking aspirin", and that he also had a "secret black bag" even way back then, and the fact that he od'd on 4/21/96 (before Amiir's death)on "aspirin and wine" which resulted in P's stomach being pumped, not to mention P's addiction to supposed Percodan was also addressed in the book by Alex Hahn...I pretty much connected the dots with what was originally stated in the AP article months ago that had mentioned what pills were found, and in what containers...IDK, that was just my gut instinct. Could 100 pills have been planted? Sure...but knowing there was halves and quarters of pills found as well...I don't think so

If that's the case, the fact that he took another one of the same pills, when he knew that this time there would be nobody to rush him off to hospital or give him a save shot, to me means one of two things: he was either absolutely desperate for relief (so was seriously addicted) OR he just didn't care any more / it was deliberate - either suicide or a 'leave it in God's hands' kind of thing.

I think Kirk was sent out on the 14th to get oxy because Prince had gone through withdrawal on the dates of the cancelled shows, was really trying to stay clean and simply didn't have those illegal pills with him on the 14th. Either he had left them hidden at home or just hadn't purchased them yet. But shit got real and he needed a fix, so out Kirk went, after Prince called Dr S and told him he needed help with his withdrawal symptoms. If Dr S had really and truly believed he was helping Prince instead of hurting him that may be the reason he initially admitted to using Kirk's name on the scrip. [Edited 4/19/17 3:30am]

My thoughts exactly!

Riko69 Tears. Endless gratitude for your insights. More tears.

I think your English is excellent. My hat is off to you, as I can't write anything in any language other than my first.

And apologies for what I have written, as words aren't sufficient for the suffering of people who deal with pain like yours.

Rednblue and disch thank you so much for the wonderful things you said here. Couldn't agree more!!

disch said:

It has no impact on Prince because he's gone.

rednblue said:

I hear you about the "tolerating" or bashing of people addicted to drugs, but I believe that intolerant, arrogant bashing leads to stigma, denial and hiding.

I suspect rather than having "no impact," it had a big role to play in the quality of Prince's life, and in his death.

Thank you for pointing out that "junkie" is not a medical term. Addiction is a medical condition.

It is also dangerous to try to divide addicted people into "good" people and "bad" people. It is an artificial binary division. It dehumanizes people.

We shouldn't do this with people who suffer heart disease, AIDS, cancer, addiction, etc.

Who knows, Prince might be alive today if he knew that he and others could view addiction more like, e.g., epilesy.

Admission is easy, just say you believe and come to this place in your heart... <3

Someone brought up that these warrants were the local ones. The state and/or federal warrants - if any - were not released. So we don't know all in terms of warrants at this time.

True dat.

We dont know what warrants may have been requested by the DEA and

federal prosecutors.

I know Prince must have been in constant pain, but I'll never believe he committed suicide.

I don't think the killed himself either. He couldn't get the meds legally anymore, he had to turn to the streets, he got a bad batch. I think he would've eventually went to rehab. You never know what you are gonna get with street drugs.

Prince e turned to the streets? I don't think so. Kirk probably gave him those pills and Prince thought they were legit pills from the pharmacy. Why else would Kirk have an attorney? Nothing Kirk was prescribed killed Prince so Kirk would not need an attorney for the pills he gave him from the pharmacy

Agree with you Olivia.
The pills found at PP still could have been placed to make it appear as if there was an issue. Andrew brought quite a bit of an assortment with him in those envelopes.

I read the warrants and here are my quick thoughts:

1. There is an inconstitency about Kirk's statement that April 20 being the only time that he had gotten prescription drugs in his name before. There were other bottles found with Prince's name on them at Paisley.

2. Who were the other 3 people (6 total) that were there when police arrived?

3. No video surveillance at all at Paisley? That doesn't sound right.

4. There is a discrepancy in the warrants. One says that the only prescription was the April 20th for Oxy that was made out to Kirk to protect Prince's privacy, but the other warrants say that Schulenberg prescribed him 3 medications on April 20 (appears to be two for anxiety and one for nausea). As I said in #1, there are other warrants that say that several bottles with Kirk's name were found at Paisley.

5. Why would Schulenberg prescribe oxy to Prince on April 20 after it was clear that he had a pain pill addiction?

6. Most importantly, what were the inconstistent and contradictory statements that were made by the 3 people ((Kirk, Merone and Kornfeld) at the scene?

THANK YOU FOR READING THE WARRANTS AND COMMENTING APPROPRIATELY BASED ON WHAT WAS ACTUALLY WRITTEN!

You are a credit to mankind. biggrin

I am still reading them but the warrants are from several affiants/detectives and I am thinking that one knew of the other prescriptions as time went by that the other was not aware of in the preliminary investigation.

If memory serves, according to a former employee and a couple of celebration attendees, we have heard that P not only had video but he also had audio wired all over PP so that is very suspicious indeed.

Still reading.....to be continued.

this too. i still wonder who had something to gain by providing the mislabeled pills, and taking advantage of an issue prince was known to have... there are far too many weirds in this story

I'm still voting Warn a Brotha

All this ^^^^and now we hear WBs back in the picture cuz they never left.
Lots of suspicion still.
