It is creepy to you because you are being melodramatic. Many people I believe you as well stated that the investigation was going to remain closed. We all knew that the 17th was the date for allowing the public to view info and that this information will be public if and when this moves to an arrest.

We do not have secret police or courts. Tax payer money is used for investigations so the public will have access to some of it this info. Eventually we will have access to all info except for his medical records.

There is one site where you can get automatic updates on cases. It's how I got notified when the autopsy summary was released. You can opt-in and out for particular things, and you'll get email updates. I'm not sure if it's the same Carver County site or not, but it's terribly handy, opposed to digging and search for something.

I'm not sure that's true about the investigation records Laura. If no charges are brought, I don't know if/when their investigation records are made public -- obviously anything that goes through the courts, like a warrant or clearly a trial itself, it typically public (unless it's sealed by court order). And actual arrests are public record. But if there are no arrests, let alone charges, in a case? I defer to a lawyer or other legal professional on that.

Someone on FB said they want to know what prescriptions he was having filled at Walgreens. People are too damn nosy. Why does the public need to know who was interviewed and what places were searched? What purpose does it serve other than to feed some people's need for gossip? Is this what people want to see on the cover of magazines at the supermarket checkout? Good grief.

I remember seeing an article that stated if there is a case brouhgt to trial the files would be open not sure about how much the public gets to see if no case is brought to the court but we do have laws that allow the public to view public docs. Don't think for one minute the Star Tribune will not be waiting with a request.
