Christopher Tracy: [writing something on a napkin] It's obvious that little Miss Mary has never been off the city block.
[holds up napkin, which has "Wrecka Stow" written on it]
Mary: What is that? Some new language?
Christopher Tracy: Read it. Do you know what it is?
Mary: It's nothing, you ninny. And you know it, but you won't confess it because you're such a coward.
Christopher Tracy: It is something, something you don't know, and you won't confess that because *you're* a coward!
Mary: This is silly, and you're a child!
Christopher Tracy: [taunting Mary] I go to dinner without my father's permission. Now, read it aloud so we can all hear how knowledgeable you are!
Mary: Wrecka stow.
Christopher Tracy: [laughs at Mary's pronounciation] Do you know what it is?
Mary: Wrecka stow, wrecka stow, it's nothing!
Christopher Tracy: [laughing] It is something. Come on, say it again louder.
Mary: Wrecka stow.
Christopher Tracy: Louder!
Mary: Wrecka stow! I give up. What is it?
Christopher Tracy: If you wanted to buy a Sam Cook a'blum, where would you go?
Mary: [rolls her eyes] The wrecka stow.

I know a few people who have said that, sorta like Purple Rain Sheila when she would put her hair up

Sheila E should have been in the movie along with many others...

ok B4 I go any further,

1. I think Kristen did a really good job expressing British aristocracy expression. And she was very good in facial expressions, which is KEY in Princeland.

2. So far (watching the movie a few more times) it is actually really good -I've said it b4 but a band scene & background scene bands during the birthday party would have really taken it up 5 notches

3. Prince did not do a good job being drunk when he went to the lady in white house lol

4. The Girls & Boys video is a reason the band should have been inthe movie, and that would have been a cool movie scene

5. In black & white it is VERY colorful

I agree. I love Kristen's facial expressions and I love that it is in black and white. I said the other day to someone that I think Prince was our last great "Old Hollywood" movie star. He's right up there with Joan Crawford and Buster Keaton and Valentino (as I've said before) --- this movie is so great- I wish he'd made a few more movies...

OMG why have we not seen a color version of Girls & Boys

but on topic the premier in Sheridan, just showed me that Prince was on point with his Utopia of Uptown Erotic City Paisley Park. When people in Sheridan Wy were dressed like people from PR First Avenue inthe movie and cowboys were digging Prince, that is what music does.

I'll admit, sometimes it is the 'other' class that can be snooty.
This scene reminds me of the Breakfast Club where the 'bully' constantly went after the 'rich girl' as if she was beneath him and his way of life was right and hers was wrong, even though he desired her life and her. And the very things he accused her of, he was guilty.

Christopher as a tragic artist would have been a much more avant garde film. Prince as a right out gigolo just did not endear me to him. But an artist moving among the Bourgeoisie and in similar fashion, wealthy housewives having affairs would have been cool.

.

Christopher and a band of artists and musicians, would have opened the door 4 a much more interesting story. along with all the colourful haute couture.

.

Even without them being speaking parts, just the presence in scenery settings and background performances as well as a few direct performances would have seriously spiced the movie up.
Prince & the Revolution

David Coleman & Jonathan Melvoin
Sheila E and her band(they definately deserve a movie spot after all the hard work during the 1984-1985 period)
