This barely hit the newsstands and it's already sold out and out of stock from the publishers. Mumio must have bought them all!

It has been almost a year now; I was shocked by the lump in my throat I got when I unexpectedly came across the People cover. I am hardly the biggest Prince fan.

There came a time when the risk of remaining tight in the bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom. Anais Nin.

I've been checking Barnes & Noble in vain for the Music Icons magazine. Today I found it at my local CVS. So if you're looking for it, you might try that.

Picked up the MUSIC ICONS yesterday, its pretty cool. Nothing really that new they basically praise the 80's and not much love for later work. The book does start with the "story" that Prince was addicted to pain medications from the 80's basic rewording of an interview with a so called dealer. Some interesting "notes" when looking at the RAVE album they speak how it was a under performing album from sales and promotion and that CLIVE then left Arista, but the interesting thing is they say "RAVE" is still a favorite to fans? Really?

I'm halfway through the Music Icons magazine. Its value is greatly diminished by lazy mistakes, including:

Stating that in "Head" Prince sings to his potential lover "I sincerely want to fuck the taste out of your mouth."

Referring to a track on Purple Rain as "Computer Love."

Reporting that the first lyric on Lovesexy was Ingrid Chavez singing "Welcome to the New Power Generation. The reason why my voice is so clear is there's no smack in my home."

Captioning a concert photo from 1981 as Prince with his band, The Revolution.

Disappointing and poorly done.

Finished reading the Music Icon "story behind each album." As I mentioned above, it's riddled with mistakes throughout and doesn't offer anything regarding the "story behind" his latter albums. More like a brief review that's useless if you've listened to the albums at all. I'd recommend avoiding it.

In addition to the mistakes I listed above, the DATE OF PRINCE'S PASSING is wrong in this magazine, a couple album release years are incorrect, and many photos are captioned with the incorrect year (a symbol-album era photo in which Prince wears the chain mask from the MNIP video is listed as 1995, Nude-era tour photos are labeled 1988, etc.).

It's pretty carelessly put together in my opinion, though it could have been great. I tweeted at the editor (politely) but got no response. They've already got my $10.

That makes me so fucking angry. A an office full of millenials doing google searches on Prince on a computer throwing together this bullshit.

I read an "Interview" on Newsweek.com with some fool interviewing Miguel. NEITHER of these jerks knew ANYTHING about Prince AT ALL. The interviewer was an idiot and Miguel is a fucking poseur/fake fan.

I don't argue with people about my opinions. Scram. I said what I said.

In the Sunday Times Magazine of 2 April 2017 (UK) there's a multi-page article about Steve Parke's soon to be released book.

I'm glad there are no more dumb tribute magazines in stores now. Most of them were bogus and taking advantage of the situation. Let's face it. Most of us are the only ones who still cared about Prince. Everyone else just thinks he is another 80's act.

.

That's not a tribute mag. This is an ongoing series where each magazine offers a selection of the reporting from various UK music mags from that year. Of course, chances are Prince wouldn't have been on the cover of the "1986" issue if he hadn't died.
